The only downfall for this beer/ I had a better one over at the IEBC in riverside an hour before this.

Color is average- exactly what you would expect.

Smell- had some bourbon character, but not much (which I actually enjoyed).

Taste- ??? Not impressive... below average compared to other beers out there of the same style. Good Vanilla and prune notes though, but did not maintain any porter flavors.

Mouth feel- Thin...I wonder if they just added sugar to get the SG up.

Overall...Mediocre at best. I was told that their brewer got a high score on his brewers test... Doesn't show.

Thanks Tim!

A: Dark brown with a small bubbly head.

S: Dark chocolate melds with caramel and a dash of coffee. Tons of bourbon and vanilla. Light oak.

T: Lots of caramel with notes vanilla and oak. Bourbon is pronounced. The beer is moderately sweet with a little brown sugar and roast.

M: Medium body with lower moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is thin and watery.

Overall: Nice. Great barrel profile. This was much better than expected.

Thanks for sharing this one FosterJM!

Dark brown without any clarity. Brown and khaki head, though thin, leaves the glass messy and sticky.

Wonderful, rich, and inviting aroma consisting of bourbon, oak, roasted malt, vanilla sweetness, and some chocolate and coffee. A complete aroma if I ever smelled one, without being over the top or too powerful with bourbon and alcohol sting. Subtle, yet rich and complex.

A fine tasting beer with a mellow bourbon and vanilla accent throughout, though the base beer still shines through: a rich, chocolatey, somewhat smoky porter.

Medium mouthfeel. A tad thicker and luscious would have put this beer in to the upper echelon.

Smooth drinking, though full and rich, subtle yet delicious--really a standout. This is without a doubt my favorite beer from Hangar 24!

Wonderful rich looking pour. A deep, dark brown color with a ton of rich tan lacing throughout the glass. Competely opaque with no light shing through and the two inch head of chocolate on top only settled down gradually by the end of the session.

The aroma was to die for. Rich notes of whiskey and campfire aromas mixed seemlessly into a roasted malt and light coffee like smell. The flavor though was simply superb. Touches of oak and roasted caramel mixing with lots of peat and whiskey barrle goodness. So rich and full, even as it warmed it was second to none in the smoked flavor. This was easily the best smoked beer I have ever had. Such a rich mix of barrel flavors and the whiskey just presented itself in the perfect mixture. Full bodied with wonderful carbonation and the alcohol was no where near too strong, in facvt it came off just right.

Big thanks to Gil for sharing this one.

A: The beer pours a dark brown with a small khaki head.

S: Just a fantastic barrel aroma of bourbon and vanilla with a hint of oak. Plenty of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. There's even a bit of coffee in there.

T: As one might expect, there is plenty of chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla flavor to this beer. Very smooth and well rounded with a nice sweetness. A hint of roast with some mild coffee notes.

M: The body is a touch on the thin side, unfortunately. Smooth, medium carbonation.

O: This was a really nice beer. I wish that I had been able to get some bottles of this.

This beer was thanks to kruthar.

Really good beer, looks great from pour to finish. I like the bourbony, vanillla smell of the beer in the glass. As I drank, I got a lot more sweet than I expected, I thought it might be a hot mess, but came out with a lot more vanilla/chocolate/tobacco undertones and flavors and of course some bourbon taste, but no burning like some other beers have in them. Really solid taste, a little bit thin for my liking, but a solid beer overall.
