Clear orange colored beer with a small tan colored head.

Smell is sweet and hoppy with a citrus rind aroma. There is a slight cinnamon stick and cedar wood scent to this one.

Starts out bittersweet. Bitter and woody with a significant onion taste. Taste doesn't deliver, just woody and bitter with lots of astringency and that onion after taste.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a disappointment. Needs to lose the onion and wood and dry hop more.

Standard ipa color, a little bit of dark gold, light orange and amber. Good hoppy aroma, grapefruit seems to be the aroma from Columbus hops. They did a solid job on the dry hopping with this beer.

Pretty straightforward taste, bitter, lemon, grapefruit. Bitterness outshines hoppiness, which is kinda typical from the single hop series I've had from Mikkeller. This is just as good, and actually, probably better given that its about the same price for a 22 compared to their 11.2 - 12oz bottles. Malt profile kept nice, low and out of the way.

On tap at The Bruery Provisions bar and store. Cloudy yellow body with a good soapy head. The IBU is up there, its just OK to drink. Orange citrus comes through. Competent for the style, just not that interesting in a locality of great interesting beers.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy amber color with a moderate white head .

Smell: Pine trees and mild fruity aromas.

Taste:The pine and citrus fruit notes in the nose carry over to the taste but are fairly restrained. There's a moderate hop bitterness in the finish.

Mouth-feel: Fairly light body with a moderate level of carbonation.

Overall: Not bad.

LOOK: Great, shiny copper tone settles into the glass. Carbonation city feeds a finger-width cream head, really fluffy at first, but it dissipates a smidgen. There’s a thin haziness about the look, but it’s a perfectly fine-looking brew.

SMELL: The scent isn’t very strong, but it’s certainly welcoming. Nice, bready malts compliment a stronger, citrusy scent. Undertones of grass round it off. Not bad, but really really mild.

TASTE/MOUTHFEEL: Wow… the first word that comes to my mind is bitter. Usually the hops attack me at the finish when it comes to IPAs, but this one starts off bitter and lingers the whole way through. Medium body tingles from the aforementioned carbonation. Letting the ale linger for a bit boasts a combination of grassy, floral tones with hardly any malt character to speak of. A nice kick of grapefruit kisses the tip of my tongue. Mellows out a good deal as it warms, thankfully. Pretty aggressive, but I can still taste the bitterness long after I take a sip, which is a bit much.

OVERALL/NOTES: This is my first go with Hangar 24, and the first word that comes to mind is ‘decent.’ Maybe I jumped the gun on opening it, because it became much more enjoyable after about fifteen minutes of sitting there. Will revisit this brewery in the future.

A: Pours a clear orange with a finger of beige head head that fades into a frothy ring with no lacing.

S: Bright citrus dominate the nose--orange and pineapple mostly, but with some grapefruit as well. The finish has some slight pine aromas.

T: Pineapple citrus up front followed by grapefruit. Bitter rind flavors follow after and the beer finishes incredibly bitter. Several seconds after I have a sip, my mouth is coated in bitterness that reminds me of getting drops of Novocaine on my tongue at the dentist's office. Unpleasant, to say the least.

M: Medium body with mid-light carbonation, this beer is slightly watery.

O: This beer smells great, but unfortunately the overwhelming bitterness ruins it and makes it pretty much undrinkable.

Appearance - Poured a deep coppery orange into a tulip glass, with a decent head.

Smell - Somewhat faint, not as fruity as other beers I've had but still recognizably citrusy.

Taste - The 77 IBUs and fresh hop/pine flavors really come through, more so than I expected with such a light odor. Quite pleasant overall.

Mouthfeel - Very smooth with light carbonation, almost too light. At first it tasted a little watery, but that wateriness is less noticeable as it warms up.

Overall - Very good beer, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Well balanced and overall a pleasant experience! An excellent example of a classic India Pale Ale!
