Big thanks to TheDuke for this bottle (and cwhittle/beachstrength49 for a bottle of 2012 that i will be getting to in the near future!).

2013, bottle # 2059 of 8856
enjoyed from a hangar 24 snifter

a - brew poured a deep shiny black with an attractive dark tan head that dissolved leaving a thin skin of bubbles and some streaky lacing on the glass. great barrel shine.

s - nose is rich decadent chocolate with a maple glazing and some warmth and vanilla from the wood. bourbon is there adding to the decadence. smells great.

t - taste matches the nose...simply awesome. rich and decadent chocolate with a maple booze wash over the top.

m - lush and rich. full bodied, but not chewy. the 13.8% is there, but well hidden.

o - overall, this is a winner. one of the better barrel aged stouts i've had in a while. really rich and decadent and simply delicious. at first i was a bit concerned about taking this one to the dome, but it is just TOO tasty that now i'm glad i don't have to share :)

Bear-hug thanks to hefman, who knocked this long-time want onto my porch this fall. 750ML bottle split with my wife, bottle 956/8856. I think. The bottle is a whole nine feet away.

The pour is cheap plastic black with minimal carbonation, as befitting a stout this close to midnight. Smells like that girl in college that you never could get: sweetness, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wow. I wonder how big the neck on the bottle is?

Pugachev’s Cobra: Barrel Roll #3 is downright decadent. Where to start? Usually the taste, but the mouthfeel on this is a DD, huge & full & satisfying. The taste is hot alcoholic bourbon, big baster of sweetened malts, molasses (one of the few beers I could have actually tasted it even if I hadn’t read the label). All top-notch & insistent. The mid-palate brings a softer focus of licorice, fudge, almost a bit of roast. The end is all barrel & richness. And for the love of all that’s holy, I could have drunk the entire bomber. Then another. Then at least part of another before I “fell asleep” on the couch. Upstairs? I wouldn’t venture it after 50+ ounces of this beast.

Wow. One of the best new beers I’ve had in some time, this ranks right up there with the all-time classics. A beer that hits all the notes of the elite. Fantastic.

Thanks to bman113vr for sharing this bottle at bu11zeye's 10,000th rating tasting.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is awesome. I get a ton of bourbon and raisins, as well as some chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is just as good, with a ton of barrel-aged character such as oak, whiskey, maple and vanilla. There is also a load of roasted malt and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation. An excellent barrel-aged Russian imperial stout. Very glad I got to try this one.

Bottle shared by nasty31 in a snifter

A - Dark chocolate brown with light maroon edges on the side

S - Bourbon, chocolate, light vanilla, light dark prune. Really bourbon forward in the nose

T - Vanilla, chocolate, lots of coffee, light sweet cream, and light bourbon in it. Finish is bitter coffee. Nice balance but definitely a bourbon forward beer!

M - Thick, chocolate body with creamy body. However the finish seems to be a bit astringent brought on by the booze and coffee flavors

O - This is a good beer overall.; however, there is so much bourbon in it that it slightly overpowers the rest of the beer

Substantially dark imperial stout - pour is very dark brown, black some light showing though. Very minimal head - clean - like reflective oil.

Very nice aromatics of very fine dark chocolate, roast, char, anise, bourbon-whiskey burn/tingle, wet barrel vanilla. Does not punch you in the face, great nuances.

Very dark - roast, char, burnt espresso, bitter dark chocolate, whiskey. Prominent notes of oaky vanilla, lingering bourbon sweetness burn, some ash. Very dry and bitter. Feels good - medium-full body, soft carbonation.

Outstanding barrel aged stout. This is great - very bold, bitter, and dry, yet very rich. The maple syrup serves more as a binding ingredient then a flavor - faint hints of it but can tell it is blending different flavors together. Lacks viscosity, otherwise outstanding.
