From the corked leftovers of Mr. Rode -- thanks man!
Appearance, smell, mouthfeel are all classic barrel aged stout. Nothing out of the ordinary. Small tan head appears and vanishes over time. Some nice bourbon lacing stays on the glass.
Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, but not enough to distract--it's just the flavor is so powerfull and the beer itself is watery more than creamy.
Taste for me is a very high end, special barrel aged stout. Similar to the raisin and plum of a Dark Lord but with some of the smoky malt feel of an Older Viscosity. If you mixed the two, in theory, that is what I am tasting.
There was not a strong or hot presence from the alcohol, but a few sips and you know the ABV is there and starts altering your state of mind fairly quickly.
