Blast into the hop solar system with our latest Sticky Hands creation. Maris Otter barley malts launch multiple kettle additions of Comet and Apollo hops before an orbit of dank Galaxy hops spin in the whirlpool. Two select brewer’s yeasts work in tandem fermenting the extraterrestrial hoppy wort, complementing the beer with soft notes of stone fruits. Finally, a double dry hop of Galaxy completes this hop trip to the moon.

Yes, this is crazy and this IS a 2015 review, having tasted this up at the bottle share at de Garde release party. An imperial IPA that's a couple of years old - crazy but it was, indeed, outstanding. I'm a person who likes beer fresh. Yet, this is one of those anomalies where aged Imperial IPA is really good.

Bottled on 10/13/13 and consumed fresh on 10/28/13.
Poured in to tulip.
A - Opaque cloudy orange/amber colour with one finger of cream coloured head. Great lacing.
S - Tropical fruit, pine and a musky/dank aroma with a touch of caramel sweetness.
T - A moderate bitterness for the style that is somewhat tamed by a sweet caramel malt base. Mango, passion fruit, pineapple and peach notes are all present. A very nice and very drinkable DIPA but I would have like a little more bitterness to come through.
M - Light to medium body. Slightly sticky. Light carbonation.

Appearance- Pours up a good amount of head which seems to have pretty good retention. The head is almost a pure cotton white (there's just a touch of yellow to it) while the body is a medium amber which appears pale when held up to the light. Considerable lacing (basically sheeting) has already been left behind. The body was very effervescent and full of bubbles after the pour.
Nose- This beer has one of those really nice musty/grapefruit aromas that I really appreciate from IPAs. A little bit of armpit and dirty sock but it fades away pretty quickly. Minor notes of other citrus (orange and lemon) along with slight tropical fruits. Enjoyable but not terribly complex. Not a big negative in my book though. Some peach shows itself as the citrus becomes a little more present. Swirling shows a bit of creaminess to the mustiness and armpit.
Taste- Starts off with notes of bitterness which usually would usually be a bad sign but these seem to echo the mustiness and armpit of the nose. These notes do grow along with a woody bitterness that is comprised of mostly pine and resin. However, these more undesirable notes (at least to me) of uncompromised pine and resin are contained by the dominant notes of grapefruit, must, and armpit. Not terribly complex at the moment but still quite enjoyable. Notes of tropical fruit (with some peach in the background) start to appear as does considerable matchstick. This is definitely complex but it tends toward more traditional IPAs. Hopheads will be satisfied but those looking for a juice bomb will be a little disappointed. Oranges and peaches fill out the middle. Fortunately, the matchstick and heavy pine of the finish don't have too much of a linger. Still, it's a very good and solid beer. It also begins to mellow and becomes more enjoyable.
Mouthfeel- Between light and medium bodied with a good zip of carbonation that isn't distracting. Slight smoothness or creaminess to the feel.
Drinkability- No heat, lots of complexity. A little overbearing on the bittering hops but still a pretty good drink. Probably wouldn't put down 9 bucks on it again but guess what, I won't have to. I probably will buy the next Sticky Hands though.
Overall- Very good, solid beer that, to me, is just another good IPA/IIPA among many. Worth a try though (if you can get it). Very fresh and does mellow out a bit. Won't be a repurchase because I won't be able to.

750ml Bottle into a tapered tulip. Bottled 10.3.13 (8 days ago)
A: Pours a pretty, slightly hazy peach with amber edges, thick frothy white head that stuck around for a bit, but not an abnormally long amount of time.
S: Ahh, the good stuff. Green mango, caramelized grapefruit, pineapple, some socky dankness. It's not as intense or bright as something like Boneyard Notorious, but it has the same feel.
T: This is round and this is good. A full spectrum of expected fruit and bitter flavors pummel my tongue beginning to end, leaving a pleasant "just bit a grapefruit like an apple" finish. Sweet pine, tons of citrus, lemongrass, pineapple. Malt stays out of the way entirely, but I know its sugar backbone is propping these hops up on a pedestal.
M: feels big, but works. Booze well incorporated, prickly.
O: Among the best of this always-changing series of IIPA, the semantics are all just personal preference. The slightly savory, footy edge to the galaxy is not my ideal hop characteristic, but it's still pretty freaking rad. One of the best breweries in OR, bar none.
