"Our stout is a truly contemplative brew. Hints of fresh coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel with a velvety brown head. Golden naked oats provide a sweet-nut flavor and a smooth satiny finish. 18 IBU's, 6.8% alc/vol"

A: Dark brown/black color with a medium bodied head that sticks around for a little while.
S: Oats, honey, coffee, chocolate amongst other things. A very nice smell.
T: Tastes just like it smells. A pleasant combination of coffee, spices, chocolate and oats.
M: Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
D: One of my all time favorites. Block 15 hit the nail on the head with this one. It's delicious and smooth. I rarely visit Block 15 without ordering at least one of these.

First had: on tap at their brewpub

A nice oatmeal stout, Nebula poured a typical dark brown-black with a patchy tan head. Smell of dark malts and licorice. Taste was a smooth blend of chocolate, raisin, and licorice, with definite pronounced tones of--as my astute wife noted--Dr. Pepper. Definitely an interesting flavor to pick up in a stout. Heavy-medium mouthfeel, and pretty smooth. Nice drink overall.

Served on tap into a pint glass

A- Poured a really dark brown with nice frothy mocha colored head that left splashy lace

S- Big sweet belgian chocolate,

T- Big dark cherry, sweet belgian chocolate, and Dr. Pepper like flavors. Some light roasted coffee ground notes. Lots of sweet caramel and bready malt character

M- Very creamy and smooth, medium to full bodied, finished dry, soft carbonation

O- Really nice sweet stout with complex flavor profile and a wonderful smooth mouthfeel. A top notch stout.

Block 15 now calls this a Naked Oat Stout. It states on their menu that they use golden naked oats, rather than rolled oats in the recipe. Visiting from Portland a few times a year, it is good to see the subtle tweaking this brewpub is doing. Their beers are becoming really outstanding. Pours a jet black pint with a full finger tight brown head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, burnt sugar and molasses. There is a lot going on in the flavor world here, chocolate cake, nuts, and a tiny bit of roast. Mouthfeel is full, but not cloying with an amazing smoothness.

Served too cold, but I don't mind. As the beer approaches a more favorable serving temp I have time to admire the tall rocky head of dark foam. The head recedes in a stir of crème de mint fragrance and I take in the opaque body.

When it's finally ready for drinking I note strong bittering with a pronounced roast barley flavor that's almost acrid. It's a little tight in the body where a bit of creaminess might make an appropriate showing in an oatmeal stout. Laceless too, but a very worthy ale all in all.
