on-tap, beermongers in Portland

Extremely tart - kind of makes one's face hurt. Tastes of raw oak, sharp stinging funk, lemon rind, dust, a touch of brett, apricot. Cool to be able to try this - definitely a winner from a brewery who mixes gems and clunkers like no other. ISO : Bottles.

Midweek tasting.. and Inflatablechair busted out something special from his Oregon travels.. Thanks Sam!!

Pours a hazed bright orange/yellow... nice head and lacing...

The nose is sharp sour notes.. lactic and no apologies... tart and little else. Loving it.

Funky and sour.... very lemony... no acetic notes... sooo sour and sooo very drinkable.. fruity.. tropical... and somehow just a HINT of sweet/tart to drag this one to the VERY good territory.

Body is lite/medium... carbonation is good/great... impressed.

Surprised I enjoyed this one as much as I did... Great out of the gate and will get better with a 3-9 months in the cellar... but seriously, drink one of these fresh just so you know what you have... Nicely done.

Pours a hazy orange in appearance with a small white head that quickly dissipated leaving little to no lacing.

Aromas begin with musty, dusty oak with some emerging fruitiness of pineapple, citrus and apricot. There is some sour fruit and a lactic presence as well.

The tastes follow the nose with a light apricot, white vinous notes, grape skin and green fruit like pear. Then the lactic, acidic sourness takes hold and balances the fruit and oak flavors.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium to low carbonation. Finish is tart, with some balanced sweet fruitiness and drying Brett yeast. A bit on the sweeter end if I had to say one way or the other.

Overall this was quite nice and a really great blend of sweet fruit and sour, drying oak Brett flavors. This would be heaven in a warmer climate but I didn't want to lose the fruit and wine flavors which would have faded by the time spring came around. Very high quality wild ale even though it lacks a great complexity, still extremely enjoyable and drinkable for an American wild.

Served in a cervoise. Thanks, Aaron! Nose has nice lactic edge with light fruit. Some stone fruit and cherry. Moderate acidity. Light acetic. Nice. Light body. Another pretty good offering from Block 15. Really nice brewery that has been from good to excellent, in my opinion. Looking forward to more from them.
