Huge thanks to Rathakem for this Block 15!
375ml bottle with pressure cap.
poured into Block 15 tulip glass.
Appearance: Slightly opaque golden yellow bodied beer with almost a full finger of bone white head. The head drops down to a thin ring around the tulip.
Smell: Big bright citrus especially lemons. Some lactic tartness and a hint of funk.
Taste: Nice mix of lemons and oranges, really big citrus flavors. Hints of pineapple sweetness, a hint of white grapes, and a hint of wheat malt. Moderate tartness with just a little bit of dusty and horse blanket funkiness. Nice oak barrel that is contributing a decent amount of woodiness. Just a hint of earthy notes hiding in the background of this beer. Really well balanced and complex sour ale. Mild lingering tartness from this beer.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. The carbonation levels are exactly where you would want it to be. The 7.25% abv is hardly noticable and the beer drinks like a 4 to 5% wild ale. Its just very well brewed beer here. The beer has a little better than a semi-dry finish.
Overall: I gotta be honest here this beer is on the same level of RR Beatification. To compare the two beers... Wild Canary is actually a little more balanced and less aggressive version of Beatification. Though I do prefer the higher carbonation levels of the Beatification and Beatification is a better looking beer with a bigger head. None the less this Wild Ale really impressed me and I am glad that I seeked this beer out. I gotta tip my hat to Block 15 for brewing and blending this outstanding beer.
