Bottle, split.
A: Cloudy and dim orange with a thin white ring of head. Really nice legs.
N: Pineapple, mango, grapefruit, tangerines and mandarin oranges absolutely dominate. This is very tropical. Some pine and earth back up the citrus, but they’re minor players.
T: Juicy flavor. Sweetness balanced by hop bitterness. Follows up with a long biscuit and a lot of floral elements. Really well balanced, and I would and could drink a lot of this.
M: Resinous and medium bodied. Dry on the palate, but it’s not desiccating.
O: An all around winner for me. Clean and precise and not likely to make you sick of it any point, especially if you prefer the more citrus forward IPAs.

Appearance- Pours up a decent amount of head that has some retention. The head is pure cotton white while the body is a medium amber/honey which appears as a pale amber when held up to the light. Dots of lacing but that is it. The body is also hazy in appearance.
Nose- Subtle for a DIPA but still intriguing. Musty notes, grapefruit, some armpit. For the first fifteen minutes, the aroma was very simplistic but after I swirl the glass, more citrus (orange and lemon) appears. The more I drink this, the more enticing the aroma becomes.
Taste- The palate is reflective of the tongue with dominant notes of mustiness, followed by grapefruit and slight tropical fruit with a protracted finish of wood and resin. Notes of orange and lemon as well. The bitter hop finish becomes stronger such that such tastes as earwax are invoked. My initial impression is that they should have gone with their gut and said, “Damn the blends.” While many of the highly rated DIPAs I've had lately could be described as juice bombs, this beer bucks that trend. This is the classic hophead's dream- there's a lot of pine and resin in the flavor profile and they dominate the finish. And since I have become used to the juice bombs, I am in no mood for this. It does appear to be mellowing out a bit and showing more of the tropical and citrus notes that should be present from the hops used. At the same time, the flavor profile is becoming more balanced and rounded. This is good as it started off fairly messy. A pretty good to solid beer that suffers from being just another DIPA.
Mouthfeel- A little more than light bodied with a healthy amount of carbonation. A minute amount of syrup in the texture.
Drinkability- Its “old school” hop profile is somewhat of an obstacle. This does mellow though. No heat present. I think it was 8-10 bucks for a 750 mL bottle. Reasonable but there are better and cheaper DIPAs that are readily available.
Overall- I know the basic Sticky Hands has a good reputation but this beer seems to fall a little short of that. Definitely worth trying if you like pine, wood, and resin. If you're looking for another Pliny or Sucks, look elsewhere.
