Imperial Chocolate Porter
An experiment at GSB Labs went extremely wrong! Rather than splicing the worlds best tasting chocolate cupacake, a genetic accident produced man eating razor teeth cupcakes. We would have lost Jon if it hadn't been for Greg's quick thinking skills. Kevin & Mike quickly closed the kettle hatch as the savage cupcakes sank into the scalding wart. Rick powered on the spinning rakes, blending them into our imperial chocolate porter. To save all of mankind this beer gone wrong was fermented for weeks as to not expose these lethal cupcakes to society. The hatch was opened and what was produced is an out of this world delicious imperial chocolate porter that we bottled and call lethal cupcake.

A: The beer is close to being jet black in color - only traces of dark brown are visible near the edges of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a narrow collar of tan bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate cupcakes are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is mostly dominated by flavors of chocolate cupcakes along with notes of cola. No sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer definitely smells and tastes like a chocolate cupcake, except that there is no sweetness. It does a remarkable job at hiding any traces of alcohol, making this very drinkable for an imperial porter.

Near black with thin tan head.
Aroma is dominated by burnt malt.
Taste is the same along with coffee and bitter chocolate.
Very dry finish and a chalky mouthfeel..This drinks much more like a Guinness Export Stout than any Porter I've had.
Not bad but not a Porter I'd seek out again. I truly believe this is more Stout than Porter.

Served in a snifter glass from a 22oz bomber.
Appearance: Thin brown to black body with medium to heavy bubbles creating a tan head rising just about a notch below a finger's length with a pretty vigorous pour. Settles beautifully with no lacing whatsoever.
Smell: Light mocha scent which is actually good but super light. I have to factor in TD a porter which usually aren't as explosive as some other sister beers.
Taste: Light malts with milk chocolate and coffee. Not complex but more noticeable as the beer warms.
Mouth: A slight dry but very sticky. Medium carbonation and toasted finish. Definitely surpassed the porter I had yesterday.
Overall: Very good local brew, as I was writing the review the number ratings increased slightly due to the temperature increasing in the beer. Super cold is almost like cheating yourself of what's good in life. Definitely worth the grab. Salud.

Picked up a 2016 bottle (22 oz) at the brewery on 12/31/2016, it pours so dark brown that it looks black with a 1-2 finger sand colored head that was packed with tiny bubbles and faded on the average to quicker side and left minimal spotty lacing.
Smells of cocoa powder and bakers chocolate up front, followed by a metallic/sheet metal aroma mixed with faint piney hops, roasted malt and brownie mix batter. It does resemble a chocolate cupcake in the nose.
Tastes like the nose with cocoa powder, bakers chocolate and also dark chocolate up front, followed by a sheet metal taste and then the faint piney hops, roasted malt, char and brownie mix batter. More sweetness in the flavor with brown sugar, coffee grinds, earthy notes and finally Nestle Toll House chocolate chips...those chips have a bitterness and are so dark and that's what it seems like shows up in this beer. It's so rich it almost seems barrel aged or coffee infused.
Typical porter feel which is thin and bordering on watery with mild carbonation and nice ashy, charred malt notes that trail off smoky and on the dry side and then finish with hints of metallic notes and nice chocolate flavors.
Overall It does resemble a chocolate cupcake and it masks the 9% ABV very well in both the nose and the taste. Solid effort here, this was a great desert beer and one I'd definitely have again.
