Served on tap in a tulip glass
1/2 inch creamy tan head; dark brown, borderline black in color.

Standard imperial stout flavor profile; licorice, dark fruits, slight coffee and mild chocolate bitterness.

Not much aroma, creamy pleasant mouthfeel, no alcohol burn and very drinkable.

Good solid RIS from a local brewery!

Pours a cola like brown color with a toasted khaki head. The head quickly settles into a slight ring.

The aroma is of dark chocolate and cocoa. An overall woody scent. Some carob and a hint of dark fruit.

The taste is big on bakers chocolate. Big and bitter. Some cocoa notes. Toasted pumpernickel and scorched caramel. Woody. Again some carob and dark fruit notes.

The feel is moderate, definitely porter-ish. Big roasty bitterness but plenty of sweetness to offset. Slight belly burn.

Quite a good porter. Definitely big dark chocolate presence.

Date: 3/31
Location: Whole Foods Gowanus
Glassware: Tulip
Appearance: Jet Black with a light brown head. The carbonation can be seen steaming up the sides. And there's a nice cascading as the beer goes down.
Aromatics: Lots of brown sugars, caramel, toffee, roasted malts. Bitter chocolates.
Flavor: The beer is sweet. Hits me on the front of the tongue hard. It's a Sugar Bomb basically. The chocolate is there. As it warms you get more coffee, toffee and flavors other then sugar.
Finish: The finish isn't as strong as I expected. The bitter chocolate is what remains on my tongue.
Notes: I was given a 12 ounce pour, I couldn't get through it but it's still a beer worth trying.

poured into a snifter from bomber

perfect appearance...darkest beer ever with a mocha colored 1 finger head

smell is pretty average with a lot of chocolate coming through

taste is awesome-flavor on par with a stout...kind of a one trick pony though with a ton of dark chocolate coming through...slight brown sugar in the finish...great taste

perfect carbonation in this porter

overall im very pleased with this beer...dont think of it more than what it is...its meant to be a chocolate bomb and it nails it...worth the limited release thanks to @1BeerToRuleThemAll

From 04/23/14 notes. Had on tap at Rattle 'N Hum in NYC. 14oz pour in a tulip for $8.

a - Pours a deep brown, almost black color, with two inches of tan head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of roasted malts, milk chocolate, cocoa, bakers chocolate, toasted malts, and chalk. Nice nose, lots of chocolate.

t - Tastes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malts, cream, vanilla, toasted malts, and light dark fruits. Even more chocolate than the nose.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. No bitterness, pretty smooth.

o - Overall a nice porter and the best GSB beer I've had (only tried about 3 others so far). Very chocolatey and no bitterness, easy to drink. Would have it again.
