This place has one of the nicest exteriors you will ever see and inside is not too shabby either, their brewing equipment is about as shiny as it gets, we sat down at the bar during happy hour on a Wednesday night, ordered the sliders for $4.50 and when they came their bite size and three of them, most expensive food in Portland size wise, it was not great either which made it worse, the atmosphere in here is very upscale and nice, everything in here was immaculate, they have a cool inventory of frisbees, shirts, glassware, bottles, etc. when you walk in the door too, service was very weak, there was probably too many people to be working in the first place, and then to boot they were all just standing around talking to each other rather than concentrating on the customers, saw a few other guests get anxious about it too, I had just had the 2005 vintage of Mirror Mirror out of the bottle a week before the trip but wanted to try it fresh on tap, so I ordered a snifter, they only filled it about a quarter of the way, literally five to six ounces for $5.25, another thing I was not particularly happy about with this place, the beer was good though but I prefer it with some age and out of the bottle I think, all else aside, they do have about eight brews that of their own that I have never seen or even heard about it, we tried them all and the only one that stuck out being above average was the bock, all their beers on tap only, there is about sixteen to eighteen of them if I remember correctly, cool place but a little expensive for me, I would still go back, recommended (1,592 characters)

Visited Deschutes Brewery & Public House in Portland, OR on Thursday August 30, 2015.

The public house was packed on a Thursday night and there was a waiting line, but we got a table for 2 in about 10 minutes. There were tables outside, but we took an inside table.

There was a nice selection of beers available, many on draft. I had two pints of the Black Butte Porter, which were excellent. The waitress was very helpful. She answered all of our questions and was very friendly.

Although they were packed, we received our drinks quickly. The food was also served quickly. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner, and did not feel rushed.

I had the crab roll, which was very tasty. My friend had the Elk burger which was good as well.

There are many brewpubs in Portland (which is great for beer lovers). Deschutes is one that I will want to go back to again. I hope to go back and try their Obsidian Stout. The beer was great, and the food was good for a brewpub. Beer selection was good too. (1,000 characters)

The classic stop in downtown PDX. This place is REALLY busy even during the week and even at off time. the atmosphere is fairly "corporate: feeling but still cool. The beer selection was excellent, within seemingly 15 (?) different offerings on tap. The downside is that those options all seemed to be different variations of pale ales. Aside from Black Butte, the recent anniversary beer and a pilsener, everything was a pale ale/red ale/IPA/DIPA. Was surprised that Obsidian wasn't available. I would have also liked to have seen more barrel aged options available. (576 characters)

We were in town for the Oregon Brewer's Festival, this was a must-stop on our list of breweries to hit - and they certainly didn't disappoint. A very nice selection of brews to pick from including rarities. The food kicks ass too. The bartender was quick and helpful. Absolute blast. Wish this NC boy lived closer. (314 characters)

Had lunch here on 6/25/15. Great brewpub. So many beers on tap, food was really good, cool decor. The urinals are HUGE. Parking is a drag in the Pearl District. Highly recommended. (180 characters)

Deschutes was a find on a trip to Portland and I'm a huge fan of the beers (Mirror Pond is probably my favorite Pale Ale). The public house is in a busy walking area in the city and with in a few block radius of about 5 other breweries so it made for a nice little walking tour.

When we walked in it was near the dinner rush so all the seating was taken including the bar so we grabbed a few stools in the bar-ish area with a large wooden table top that stretched he length of the walkway. Not the most comfortable spot but it would do. The service was slower then average since it was so busy - it took about 15 minutes to get our first round and another 10 after we finished to get another. We didn't get food so I can't comment on that ( but it was looking good )

The beer selection was slightly higher then average with there flagship beers 6 or 7 one off batches and a few bottle only releases. I went with a flight of Brewer's Choice which was mostly the one off batches, which included a Belgian single, a couple IPAs, a saison and couple others I can't recall. All very fresh and great on this day of beer tours.

The decor/vibe was plane jane.. I had higher hopes i suppose. Very mutch a restaurant feel with not much character except for the brick walls and view of the brewing settup behind the bar. (1,314 characters)

High energy, Friday lunch crowd during a mid-April rain storm. Mostly full house, but cheerful, helpful service.
I chose the Red Chair NWPA (nitro), which turned out to be outstanding - nicely hopped, full delicious flavor. Highly Recommended! Maybe it was where we were seated, but I cannot remember seeing a very wide selection of draft brew offerings. There was a bottle menu that was very extensive, and had some great strong ale and seasonal choices.
Good menu selection for food. Great pub burger. Very attentive and helpful staff. I have not been to the main facility in Bend, but our experience here was excellent! (631 characters)
