I actually visited the Pearl District Brew Pub back in December but never got around to reviewing it. This review is based on my memory and not notes but I think that is OK because I am not reviewing the beer from memory.
The inside of the place is top notch. It's a big open air downtown-meets-industrial-meets-outdoors theme. There is raw wood, stainless, steel and hip Portland chic decor throughout. Definitely not a typical bar and I would not be hesitant to do a business lunch here.
Our server messed up our food order but I didn't complain and ate it anyway. He brought me the elk burger with sweet potato fries instead of the lamb burger with some other side dish I can't remember now. I do remember enjoying the burger and fries anyway. He did get our beers right. We had an Arctic Blastanator Weizen Bock with our food and a snifter of Streaking the Quad after we finished eating. I said I wouldn't review the beers from memory but I do remember being very impressed with each beer and believe that the Arctic Blastanator was probably the most banana nuanced beers I have ever had.
I will return to Deschutes upon my return to the city but will have to do it with a bonus check from work or with something to celebrate. I found the receipt in my wallet the other day, and it looked like this; two burgers + four beers = $55...before the tip...for lunch!

I stopped in with my boss, our plan was to have a beer or two and then go somewhere else for dinner. So much for plans, we had such a good time; we ended up staying for over 4 hours!
The long bar is to your left as you enter. There are dining areas to your right. I liked the high ceilings and all the windows as they give this place a very open, airy feeling.
We sat at the bar and received really excellent service from the three bartenders that were manning the bar. They all had plenty of beer knowledge, made good suggestions, were free with samples and were also very friendly and funny.
They had 6 regulars on tap plus an additional 6 or so rotators. They also offered some good bottle selections. I really enjoyed the fresh squeezed IPA, The Hop Henge and a big red whose name escapes me.
The food was great. I liked their take on wings, loved the big pretzel and really liked their soup.
All-in-all, a great experience for us. I realize Portland has a ton of good places and I think this one is in the top echelon. .
