Notes/Commercial Description:
Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick's original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

Thanks, Abraham.

A dark brown with a dense, light brown head with solid retention and minimal lacing, this looks good. The nose is a blend of cocoa dusted dark caramel, overripe bananas, cloves, toffee, burnt sugar, a clean, grainy character and a little vanilla. Milk duds are also noticeable. Very nice.

The palate opens moderately fruity and with some caramel and brown sugar but there's a rather grainy, cracker like huskiness and mild tannins that strip off the sweeter flavors. A moderately intense and spicy clove note is present as well. The beer does fall apart toward the finish, ending up rather disjointed with an in cohesive blend of sweetness, spice and wateriness, lacking the grainy dextrins that could hold it all together. Decent stuff.

A. Pours a deep ruby brown with a beautiful two finger khaki colored head. Retention is outstanding with a big creamy ring of froth lasting through the session. Each swirl builds the foam back up. Lacing is equally thick and coating.

S. Freshly baked bread, orange zest, pumpernickel, lots of cherry and fig, brown sugar, molasses, and even some red wine.

T. Hearty bread crust, stone fruit, hints of chocolate, clove, banana, pear. Very malty and complex.

M. Low to moderate carb with a wonderfully complex flavor profile. It's big and it's sweet, but the alcohol is very well hidden and it has a great balance.

O. It's not particularly distinctive other than its all around excellence. It's a beautifully done weizenbock and hits every note in high form. It's a rounded yet complex example of the style, with bright fruit, phenol, and banana notes and a toasty malt bill. Very very enjoyable, and a cool experiment by the Bruery in revisiting Patrick's homebrew recipes. Would love to see what other things they can recreate from his cookbook.
