Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick's original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

Pours a dark mahogany with a 2" inviting tan head. Retention and lacing are spectacular, but still a good looking beer. Nose is spot on with burnt sugar, raisins, brown bread, banana/banana bread, clove, stewed prunes, and more. Very complex even before it warms up fully. Taste is a bit on the sweet and treacly end at first. As it evolves, it becomes more complex with notes of cardamom buns, malt syrup, baked brown bread, melba toast, roasted fruit, baked sweet potatoes, and yeast esters. Feel is pretty heavy with light carbonation and very little trace of alcohol. Really enjoyed this beer, and I wish the Bruery returned to producing more beers in this vein than [insert candy bar] stouts.

This is an interesting take on a weizenbock. While the aroma doesn't betray much, the flavor gives off a darker impression than most I've had, with a refreshing wave of overripe melon rind followed by cherry and malt with some spices dancing on the back end. Not bad

750 mL bottle into a tulip
2013 batch
Was skeptical this would hold up as long as it did, given the style and ABV, but huge points for retaining its overall balance and profile. Sweet, buttery malts anchor a rye-bready complexion, with hints of clove and anise.
If there’s a criticism, maybe some of the sharp, spicy notes have been muted over time, or kind of blended into each other, but it’s still damn tasty. Plus, I’m not sure I’ve had this fresh, so this may be really close to a newer bottle. Anyway, Bruery beers age gracefully, even the lower ABV varieties.

750 ml bottle from Tavour. Brown pour, clear, thin beige head. Malty aroma with weizen yeast notes. Taste is sweet, brown bread, banana, a little clove. Nice body on this. Right on style.

Drank as part of a beer tasting with Ron. Not sure about the price. Cool bottle, neat cap. Consumed on 04/15/23, review from notes.
A&S: Light tan head pours a finger, disappears to a ring. The aroma has bananas, caramels, vanilla, and cloves. Maltier as it warms with a hint of tobacco.
T&M: Upfront, lot of raisins. Sweeter compared to the aroma and almost a little sour. Very smooth and drinkable for 8.7% ABV. For some reason more flavor towards to bottom. Hints of smoke as well. The mouthfeel is a little watery with a good carbonation kick.
3.5 Overall: I love this brewery, but this one was just ok. I haven’t had many beers in this style, but I feel like this one is nothing crazy. I think this beer would really complement food (lamb especially).

I have not consumed many Weizenbocks and thought, what the heck, I will try this one. I served the beer at around 50 degrees in a tulip glass. A frothy and moussey two-fingered head with above-average retention was created from the pour. The slow dissipation left bits of light tan lacing on the glass. Charting the beer around SRM 22, dark brown with ruby hues. The clarity is clear, with a few carbonation bubbles visible. An above-average appearance for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell caramel, wheat, toasted bread crust, bready, toasted malts, a slight hint of bananas, a touch of cloves, a smidge of vanilla, and some Maillard.
I tasted banana, wheat, toasted malts, caramels, bready, bread crust, clove, vanilla, a smidge of Maillard, and molasses.
The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. The body is medium, has a medium-low carbonation, and has a pleasant finish.
The beer is sublime! The notes of banana and spice give me the vibes of banana bread. I enjoyed sipping on this beer; I wish I had another one.

750 ml bottle, 2022 edition, bottled 07/14/22. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours a murky brown color with about a couple inch tan head that stuck around for a long time. Small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like clove, banana, caramel, dark bread and some plum. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some molasses, candi sugar and a generic sweet spiciness that I can't be 100% sure of what it is. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit coating and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall weizenbock, definitely worth trying if you come across some!

From the big bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This solid weizenbock pours a dark and muddled brown with touches
of ruby highlights and a decent head of kahki foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin film, and shows some faint lacing. Nose of Belgian candy, brown sugars,
dark breaded malts, raisins, and light banana. Flavors lightly surpass the nose with
dark breaded malts, rich banana, cherry hints, brown sugar, candy sugar, and
light clove notes with a touch of cinnamon. Nice mouth feel; medium body, medium
light soft carbonation, and a subtly dry finish.
Overall, a very nice weizenbock indeed!
Cheers

Poured to an oversized wine glass.
A: The body is brown and very opaque. The head is white to beige with a good retention.
S: The aroma is filled with Belgian candi and lightly roasted malts.
T: The taste is very sweet at first, due to the Belgian Candi. In the end, a long roasted profile fills your throat and mouth. It's perfect.
M: The body is high. Carbonation is perfect. Sweetness is a bit too high.
O: First Briery I guess, loving this so far.

Poured from 2 pint bottle into standard pint glass. No bottle or freshness date.
L: Dark amber, two finger tan head.
S: Bubblegum, sweet fruits, yeast, clove, vanilla, alcohol.
T: Quite similar to a Belgian Strong Ale, very sweet taste, bubblegum, dried fruits, vanilla.
F: Medium body, medium carbonation.
O: Kind of disappointed but I think I am more disappointed in the style and not the actual beer.
