Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick's original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

A: Pours a much darker than expected deep brown color with a thin cream colored head. Leaves subtle tracks of lace with each sip.

S: Sweet and malty on the nose with some banana, clove, persimmon, bready malt, spice cake and some dark fruit. Smells really nice.

T: Opens sweet with some caramel, raisin bread, banana nut loaf and a good amount of clove and brown sugar. Finish is a touch spicy with a good amount of malty sweetness and just a kiss of alcohol to round things out. A really nice rendition of the style.

Served cold, I held this one upside down for a bit prior to the pour, unsure of the traditional base that is. The Shegoat pours a deep brown and a light mahogany in the light with a decent cap of foam. Good depth to the aroma though a bit lacking in the taste department. Quite hoppy up front with some muddled caramel notes and with a firm carbonation, as it should be I say.

Touch of alcohol on the nose, light banana and a hint of clove spice, light caramel is muddled well.

This 'German Style Ale' has no flaws per se but alas an interesting yet average
