750ml bottle poured into a snifter. 06/14/13 on the neck.
A: Pours a clear golden amber with a very large dense white head. Average amount of visible carbonation in the body. Head sticks around for a real long time, leaving behind some nice lacing on the glass.
S: Certainly has some Belgian qualities going for it in the aroma department. A grape, apple or cherry like fruit character permeates the aroma coupled with a hint of sweetness. Farmhouse character is in there as well with a bit of spiciness from the rye.
T: Nice flavor here, really blended together well. Starts off with a bit of light fruitiness reminiscent of a light belgian tripel. Brett yeast comes in and gives it a earthy farmhouse twist. Mild sweetness brings up the rear and compliments the rye malt. As you add the yeast at the bottom of the bottle a bit more of the Brett funkiness comes out.
M: Medium body with ample carbonation. Quite dry from the Brett yeast which I like. Crisp finish with just a touch of stickiness.
Overall I'm enjoying this beer. Lots of complex flavors in this that all meld together to create something better. Worth a try.
