Enjoyed out of a brown 750 mL bottle with a bottling date that had almost completely worn away: 05/25/13. Poured into a Boulevard Smokestack Series tulip glass.
Appearance - Frothy meringue-colored head sits atop a ruddy golden-yellow body with plenty of haze and cloudiness. Looks almost like lemonade. After very little time, the foamy head fades away to leave a halo of white around the edge of the glass. No lacing to speak of.
Smell - Crisp to the nose, acidic and lemony zest. Fresh and sinus-clearing and makes one want to dive in, due to the refreshing aroma. As the tartness fades, a softer element from the wheat peeks through.
Taste - Deliciously tart and refreshing, like drinking a lemonade that isn't sweet, but also isn't puckeringly sour. Like what you might have if you mixed lemon juice and sparkling water, with a very nice play of zest and acidity along the center of the tongue. Put it this way: it managed to be tart enough to satisfy my sour-craving taste, but also not overbearing to my friend who isn't a big puckerhead. An incredible tasting beer.
Mouthfeel - Crisp and dry. Light body and moderate carbonation.
Overall, this is probably my favorite BW style beer to date. I've also had Bell's Oarsman, Professor Fritz Briem 1809 and DH Festina Peche. The 3.1% abv also makes it easy to polish off a full 750 without getting sloppy, so that's nice. I will definitely have to seek out additional bottles of this wonderful sour beer from The Bruery. The more I have their beers, the more impressed I become.

This beer pours a rather hazy, pale golden straw colour, with a fistful of puffy, frothy, and tightly foamy eggshell white head, which leaves pretty much nil in terms of lacing.
It smells of sharp, tart white wine, the derived vinegar, a musty funk, sour lemon, edgy wheat grain, and a mild earthy grassiness. The taste is actually a fair bit less tart, but still replete with lemon zest, white wine vinegar, crab-apple, gritty and grainy wheat malt, a soft barnyard funk, wet grass, and an earthy yeastiness.
The carbonation is quite robust, in a mouth-filling frothy sort of manner, the body medium-light in weight, and generally a bit too tart to be deemed particularly smooth, yet an airy creaminess arises over time. It finishes dry, dry, dry, the fruit, yeast, and wheat all colluding and conspiring as such.
Well-rounded in its tart and funky base parameters, and overall, a decently drinkable, and even refreshing at times version of the style - I've not had many chances to try the real deal, so take that with a grain of salt (sounds like something that's actually in this beer). I suppose I should try mixing this as is typically suggested, but for some reason I'm all out of woodruff.
