Murky pale golden body with a short-lived fizzy head that recedes to nothing.

Incredibly tart on the nose. Sharp vinegar notes against white grape and sour apple. Wet hay, sweet berries... pretty intense smelling stuff.

All of those imposing aromatics aren't as harsh on the palate as you might expect. Mild citrus with a gueuze like tartness... a delicious candidate for a brunch beer.

Pours cloudy pale yellow, almost the colour of grapefruit juice. Foamy white head with no retention at the start. No head as the glass is topped off.

Some wheat and yeast, but a nice tart note in the nose. A little lemon peel.

Big sour milk note up front, with nice acid and a seltzer like quality. A little salt, leading to yeast and tart acidity. Long tart finish. This one has a nice flavor, a good deal of depth, and good, long lasting power on the palate. This is domestic??? Wow.

Light bodied, acidic, good carbonation.

A big $10 bottle of Berliner Weissbier that actually stands up to good German versions. Flavor and palate feel are excellent. Must try if you like the style.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.

A slight dull lemon yellow body, but a nice even filled bleach white and creamy head that manages three fingers, and slowly settles to a two milliliter thin collar. Lots of thin carbonation, and good strong lines in places.

Nose is a big nice tart lemon. Slightly spritzy even a bit floral in action. Strong sticky yeast but with a very light clean sense also. A nice mix of white dough at first also, but doesn't seem to return on further examination.

Very mellow body but with a good lemon tartness on first sip. Light but with a huge malt wheat backbone, giving to baked bread and white crisp buttered toast. Chewy, with the malts really lingering on the finish. Nice playful moderate to high carbonation bringing a nice pop of the flavors. Feel is about right to style, without being too wet (but it is light) and made for easy drinking.

Probably only fitting I am drinking this great beer on the official first day of summer. So hitting the spot right now.

Bottled what appears to be 3/25/13 and is apparently bottle #870 of 871. Poured into a tulip glass.

A - Pours a lovely golden straw color with 2-3 fingers of white white head that quickly dissipates.

S - A lot of grassy, earthy, bretty, funky tartness going on here. Nothing is all that overbearing though. Very nice.

T - Much of the same of the smells are present in the taste. Finishes with a little fruity sweetness. And very dry.

M - Lots of carbonation and fairly light mouthfeel. But not too light. Very nice.

O - This is crazy enjoyable. And at 3.1 you could drink it all day long. Throughout the whole bottle it doesn't get cloying at all and is super drinkable all the way through. 9/10 would buy again - especially at the price.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy golden yellow. Big white head, but doesn't last at all. Just a thin collar.

Smell - Extremely lactic. Acidic and grainy. Simple nose, but to be expected.

Taste - Pretty tart. Lactic sourness. Wheaty and grainy. Lemony sourness.

Mouthfeel - Very drinkable. I like that it isn't that sour. Medium carbonation.

Overall - These straight berliners suffer from simplicity, but this is an excellent example of the style.
