750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle for $3.99 on clearance. Can't beat it.
Appearance - Murky deep orange/brown. Billowing khaki head that nearly overflows the glass. Settles quickly, though. Thick collar.
Smell - Very spicy. Distinct Belgian character to it. Bright light malts balance with a deep brown sugar and maple aroma. Inviting.
Taste - Maple comes out much more here, with the spice being subdued into the finish. Dominated by caramel malt, detracting a bit from the complexity. Lingering sweet finish, but not cloying.
Mouthfeel - Well carbonated. Nowhere near as sweet as I remember it. Boozy.
Overall - I don't love the style, but I enjoyed this. Tough to distinguish the yam base. Tasty combination of extraneous flavors.
