Bottle to pint snifter
A - deep caramel; minimal head; no lacing; minimal carbonation
S - Belgian yeasts up front; a little yam sweet; molasses; brown sugar
T - yams; burnt sugar; molasses; sweet and spicy
M - pretty smooth, a little sweet; the Belgian yeasts make this slightly bitter and lingering
O - overall, this is a pretty decent fall offering; seems like it would pair well with turkey and stuffing; unique take on a brown with all that Belgian influence; has the right amount of booze to flavor ratio where I wouldn't want to drink more than a glass and still get my fuzz on wo over committing.

For some reason, I let this one sit for a few years. Still tasted pretty good though. Pours a medium brown color with orange highlights throughout. Head is small, even with a hard pour. Head retention and lacing are minimal. This beer could have used a little more carbonation.
Aroma includes maltiness, an aroma reminiscent of pumpkin (the yams), the usual pumpkin beer spices and some molasses and brown sugar. Very nice.
Flavor is rich, as rich as some of the better pumpkin ales. The sweetness is balanced by the spices and the fairly neutral tasting yam flavor. All the flavors are pronounced and pleasant.
Mouthfeel is rich but lacking in carbonation. I thought I might have stored this beer too long, but I read other reviews complaining about carbonation issues. Still pleasant. no hint of alcohol except for a welcoming warming effect.
I'm not a huge fan of fruit and vegetable beers but his one is pretty good.
