2010 bottle poured into nonic pint (sorry!)
A: Pours a cloudy, light golden color with a tower of bubbly white head. Lots of lacing left behind.
S: Funky yeast and a spicy, herbal kick start things off. The smell is considerably sweet, almost like a red apple.
T: Nice balance of sweetness and funkiness here, with big candi sugar and yeast flavors apparent. The best parts of the taste are a light tanginess (presumably from the Brett indicated on the label) and a light, lingering bitterness on the finish, which I didn't expect given the beer's age.
M: Rather thin-bodied, with very lively carbonation. Dry finish.
O: I enjoyed my glasses of this one, even there had been a bit too much sweetness for my tastes by the very end. The tangy finish is a unique selling point for this beer, but I'm not sure that I would reach for this when picking out a saison.

Not sure the regular price of this beer but I got it on discount from 15.95 for just 9 bucks. Must be old at least a few months to possibly a year from last spring you never know with beers from this place.
A - Very carbonated I got well over two inches that fades rather slowly. Probably to a good lace ring... yep! Color is a hazy opaque yellow color with no chunks so thankfully it's not TOO old or stored wrong.
S - Fresh and full of Brett that tickles the nostrils like a fresh squeezed lemon. Beneath this I do get some dry funky yeast and maybe some peppery spice but it's mostly sour.
T - Not sure how but I get no sour flavors in the taste is just comes off dry with some bready yeast and very little if any pepper corn or funk. Kind of plain really for such an expensive drink.
M - Bubbly and light Its not too dry and goes down smooth.
Overall I really like the idea of a sour Saison it covered up most of the drying qualities I hate in the style but it really didn't taste very Brett like. In fact it seems like it killed the base a bit since I don't taste many bready malts or pepper corns or anything. Interesting idea but an overpriced flop if you asked me.
