Poured into a Stella chalice, Saison de Lente has a mostly clear golden-amber color with a fluffy 3 finger head. The foamy head falls to a finger or so where it seems to have settled, while leaving plenty of sticky lacing along the way.
After a good swirl, the aroma gives off lots of grassy and lemony hops. Hints of peppery spice, powdery soft yeast, flowers, and a very slight hint of tart barnyard funk.
The flavor starts off spicy and hoppy: citrusy, grassy… All in all, very lemony. The middle introduces a bit of grainy and bready malt to the flavor, but still kept quite light and crisp. The finish is where Saison de Lente really shines. Mildly tart Brett yeast flavors become noticeable, while mixing perfectly with the hops, as well as more standard belgian style yeast flavors. While not bone dry, the finish is definitely on the dry side, think belgian pale ale, but a bit lighter.
Saison de Lente is only the second saison I've ever had, the other being Saison Rue from the Bruery. And if I'm being honest, I'm setting the bar for saisons way too high. The style always seemed a bit boring and high priced to me, since it's more of a lighter spring/summer style. But Saison de Lente does not disappoint! There is plenty of hop flavor, while maintaining light/crisp drinkability, plus the Brett yeast that adds an extra dimension of funkiness that we all love. At least I know I do.

Not sure the regular price of this beer but I got it on discount from 15.95 for just 9 bucks. Must be old at least a few months to possibly a year from last spring you never know with beers from this place.
A - Very carbonated I got well over two inches that fades rather slowly. Probably to a good lace ring... yep! Color is a hazy opaque yellow color with no chunks so thankfully it's not TOO old or stored wrong.
S - Fresh and full of Brett that tickles the nostrils like a fresh squeezed lemon. Beneath this I do get some dry funky yeast and maybe some peppery spice but it's mostly sour.
T - Not sure how but I get no sour flavors in the taste is just comes off dry with some bready yeast and very little if any pepper corn or funk. Kind of plain really for such an expensive drink.
M - Bubbly and light Its not too dry and goes down smooth.
Overall I really like the idea of a sour Saison it covered up most of the drying qualities I hate in the style but it really didn't taste very Brett like. In fact it seems like it killed the base a bit since I don't taste many bready malts or pepper corns or anything. Interesting idea but an overpriced flop if you asked me.
