Style | ABV
Saison / Farmhouse Ale |  6.50% ABV

Availability: Spring

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Spring Saison is light blonde in color with a fresh hoppiness and a wild and rustic Brettanomyces character. Lighter in color and alcohol than our Saison Rue, yet equally complex in its own way.

The wild yeast in Saison de Lente will continue to dry it out over time, giving a slightly more mature character to vintage bottles. Perfect for warmer weather picnics and Spring celebrations.

On tap into a pint glass at Pinocchio's in Media, PA.

A Pours a hazy gold, with a less than one finger fluffy white head, or more if she just didn't pour correctly. The head stays quite well and leaves thick lacing sticking to the sides like a baby koala to its mothers back.

S It smells so fresh and crisp, lightly grassy, but sweet and malty, somewhat like apples/pears.

T The taste is crisp, sharp on the tip of the tongue, malty and sweet on the middle and sides, grassy down the middle. There's bitterness at the finish and with some hidden funk that shines through at the end from the brett.

M It feels creamy, crisp all over, and bitter/funky in the finish. There's abundant carbonation all around.

D Refreshing as fuck, very hard to put down. I almost wish it lasted longer so I could have enjoyed it more.

I gotta get more of this. Saisons have been the style that have just been consistently surprising me.

A - light golden rod, with just a slight amount of cloudiness to, light foamy white head leaving just a little lacing

S - grassy and barnyard funk, some citrus as well

T - grassy and citrus, very refreshing; a little pine and tartness on the finish

M - light and pretty well carbonated

O - a well done spring saison, nice and light, perfect combo for almost any type of meal; the citrus was nice and the barnyard funk wasn't overpowering

Drinking this on a warm Easter day, how appropriate...

A - Light orange, very clear. Porous 1-2" white foam when poured aggressively.

S - Sour yeast with

T - Peaches and apples with a sour hop finish.

M - Creamy and airy.

O - Taste is more complex and better balanced then I expected after smelling it. Sad to admit this is my first beer from the Bruery. I will certainly be trying more of their offerings, including the Sour in the Rye that I have in my cellar. Prost!

750 mL bottled purchased at Connecticut Ave. Wine and Liquors in Dupont Circle NW D.C., unknown brewing/bottling date but drink before "09-2014" recommendation; drank over 30 minutes

A: 2/3 - pale yellow-to-golden coloration; murky/hazy (cannot read or see through); received with an initial frothy white head that settled into a subtle glass lacing; small visible bubbles pouring off the bottom of the glass

S: 9/12 - predominately lemon and lime zest; some peppery/spciy Belgian yeast, pils and wheat with some alcohol

T: 16/20 - bright, refreshing lemon flavors immediately hit on first sip and continue to develop on the palate; as the flavor profile expands; the Belgian pils and yeast rear up - peppery, estery and coriander; mild alcohols; finishes dry and inviting

M: 4/5 - high carbonation; high carbonation; light body

O: 8/10 - classic light Spring/Summer saison; unfortunately, I don't get much musky/dry Brettanomyces character, which, based on the packaging, I was anticipating and looking forward too; nevertheless, it's a solid saison with a nice price tag for The Bruery (~$10/bottle)

TOTAL - 39/50

Appearance:
The beers a white and creamy head that lasts for a while. The beer itself is a clear gold color.

Smell:
The beer has earthy smell along with grain and wheat. The beer also has hop notes that resemble lemon notes and a bit of grassy nose as well. The smell also has a hint of sweetness is not very noticeable.

Taste:
The beer has an earthy taste along with wheat and grain. There are also some fruity notes such as lemon and a bit of grain to balance it out. The tropical fruit notes and hop notes are much stronger than the usual wheat and grain. Additionally, a fairly bitter and slightly metallic yet somewhat bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel:
Biting carbonation and medium bodied. However, the body is a bit on the light side for a saison.

Overall:
A fairly decent saison and worth getting again in the future
