Cask pour at The Bruery's anniversary. Orange-gold color. Lots of honey, flowers and some caramel in the aroma. The flavor is boozy, sweet honey, lightly fruity and floral, with the alcohol drying the finish slightly. Low carbonation and sticky feel. Lots of honey, lots of alcohol, and a bit too much in general for me.

I had this beer on the first Friday, at the anniversary party, and again at the Real Ale Festival a couple weeks ago, this review is from then, served in an imperial pint glass, from notes of the two pours I had there, color is a golden yellow mixed with orange, minimal white head with big bubbles out of the handpump, no retention or lacing, aroma consists of vanilla, honey, booze, oak, caramel, toffee, candied sugar, and vanilla, flavor starts off with a lot of mead, vanilla, malt, and oak in the middle, finish is very sweet and alcoholic, warming on the tongue, there is a good amount of herbal accents in the aftertaste, boozy and sweet mouthfeel, full bodied, minimal carbonation, taste lingers a very long time, could not drink much more than I did, very strong alcohol wise and you can taste it all, really like the idea of this and worked quite well, would drink again, recommended

On cask at Pizza Port Real Ale 2009.

Imperial pint glass. The beer is bright yellow gold, slightly hazy yet vibrant in the light of a Viking Carlsbad sun. The aroma is sweet honey. It's sugary with some noticeable wheat. Fruit notes are present in the form of apricots and peaches.

The flavor is very sweet. The mead is pretty dominant, allowing a hint of the wheatwine to manifest. The wheatwine imparts oak with some vanilla. The mead tastes of honey with notes of apricots and peaches. The alcohol is apparent but I wouldn't guess 15%. Longships crest the waves of the Pacific Ocean on their way to Tamarack. Hail victory!

I like mead so I always enjoy mead blends. This tastes semisweet. Jötnar beware!

8 ounce pour on cask at the source, on to the beer:

This beer glowed bright orange in my glass with the head fading away to nothing. The whole time I drank this I felt like a cognac/brandy snob, sipping and swirling the liquid. It started off with mandarin orange flavor. Then it kicked into toasted almonds and brandy. The booze is there, but it has a good sweet flavor. It also warms the stomach pleasantly. Medium bodied in the mouth, not too heavy, and sticky. I don't know much about mead, but I do know I really like this offering....what a pleasant drink to sip on.

On cask at The Bruery, a blend of Tupelo honey mead and their wheatwine, approximately 15%, 8 oz. pour,

A: Pours a golden yellow with a light white cask head.

S: Great smell, big on the vanilla and honey. Definite volatile ethanol in the nose.

T: Meady upfront, with nice vanilla and mild smoke and oak notes. Ethanol is evident, but blends well with the beer.

M: Silky smooth, full-bodied, viscous with a definite solvent character. Pleasant alcohol burn.

D: Another nice one-off from The Bruery. I'm a big fan of mead and honey beers, so I was greatly looking forward to this and was not dissapointed. I plan to have more at the 1st Anniversary celebration. Nice work.
