2009 batch, wow, don't see this one every day.
This one pours a still black inky liquid that looks exactly how i always thought it would. There are legs to meet anybodys desires.
The aroma gives a sweetness off right away but then makes it take on natural fruity sugars likeness, and cuts it down with a hefty alcohol presence.
The flavors are integrating very nicely it seems. My two worries going into this pour was either it being cloying or soy sauce, and i can say in this bottle neither was the case. I can see how some people could get either from this, but i found both aspects to be minimal enough that they contributed to the overall flavor componants in a positive manor. The alcohol and barrel flavors of vanilla and caramel, the rich chocolate, and those dark currants and fruits rolled in sugar.
This 2009 bottle was awesome, i really dug it. i wonder how this beer is fresh though.

Poured into a tulip glass
To preface i was cery skeptical of this beer tasting like straight up liquor because of the alcohol content.
A- jet black with very very little brown head that turns into nothing very very quickly. Man this looks good. Getting lost in its appearance.
S- bourbon. Sweet caramel and vanilla. The chocolate comes through at the end and sits in the nose for a good while. The smell is very very sweet almost like candied soy sauce. Sounds weird but it's very good.
T- chocolate with hints of coffee. The coffee is very faint but the chocolate leaves a bitterness like dark chocolate does on the tongue. Then te bourbon comes in and swirls around the mouth. The booze is hot but it blends so well with the malt and chocolate. The sweetness from the bourbon doesn't overwhelm the flavors at all. This tastes amazing. Can't find anything wrong with the taste.
M- incredibly smooth for a 19% beer. Not much bite from the carbonation either. Can't believe how smooth it is.
O- a very delicious beer that really captures the style. Gotta drink it slow though. Very hard to find something wrong with this beer. To me this beats out BCS because the sweetness from the bourbon blends way better in this beer. Glad i have another bottle.
