750ml bottle poured into an oversized tulip.
A - Good clarity to the deep mahogany beer. Tall cap of tan head. No lacing in a beer clean glass.
S - Clean/rich/nutty malty notes. Sweet caramel and hints at some red fruits. I get some spicy rye but its pretty subdued. Alcohol present as it warms.
T - Rich caramel malts all over. Plenty of ripe red fruit suggestion and yeast esters. Some rye spice fits in well with some mild hop bitterness at finish.
M - Medium-full/full body, medium-light carbonation, sweet.
O - If i didn't know this was a rye beer I probably would overlook it. Very well done, a great malty brew with dimension. Strong version of almost a scotch ale. If malty is your calling, a fresh bottle might offer more rye spice.
Judgement - Worth a try if you love malty brews.
