750ml bottle purchased winter 2009
poured into a tulip
A: Deep brown color with ruby/amber highlights. Billowing tan head with great retention, minimal lacing.
S: Spices jump out with a very malt forward nose. Caramel, raisins, and burnt bread waft from the beer when swirled.
T: The rye is the star of the show here. It really helps accentuate the spices and yeast. The spiciness is still hanging around with some raisins and roasted apples. The brew finishes dry and crisp.
M: Medium bodied with ample carbonation.
D: I enjoyed this beer very much. It is well suited for the winter months and great with a bit of age on it.
