The brew is a dark brown color with a white head. The aroma is full of rye whiskey and a bit of peat, The taste is sugary, peaty, reminds me of a scotch ale. Caramelized sugar is evident. Mostly sweet, yet balanced and perfectly tasty. No hint of alcohol content. Full bodied, well carbonated and crisp. Overall, this is a really unique tasting and satisfying rye beer,

The Bruery - Rugbrød [JuleBryg-Style Dark Rye Ale] (750ml ---> Dogfish Head Curved Pint Glass : 8% ABV)

This brew poured a beautiful red/amber color producing a MASSIVE tan colored head formed with a slight bit carbonation assisting the retention in the cap, with decent lacing left behind... Immediately on the nose was a malty sweetness with maybe some dark berries hidden in there also, which were really the only aromas showing up on the nose... First tastes that arise are again the sweet malts, this time accompanied by a decent bit of spice that gently bites the tip of your tongue... Mid-palate tastes somewhat like a nice moist dark-berry muffin, with a decent amount of wheaty, breadiness also present... The finish is smooth, as the light amount of carbonation plays in nicely, giving the beer an almost creamy/satiny texture to finish each sip... Overall I can't really fault this beer for any personal taste reasons, and the balance I found between the sweet and the savory became better as I continued enjoying the beer... Was I extremely pleased with this beer; absolutely, but was I totally blown away; not quite, but an outstanding showing none the less!! Another good brew - Cheers!!
