Always fun trying something new from the Bruery...
750 ml bottle purchased at LaBodega in Riverside, CA in January 2010 for $9.99. The fun name is a nod to the Belgians on which this is styled.
Pours a slightly hazy, moderately carbonated golden, well representative of the style. Aroma when cold is mostly grassy, but fleshes out nicely as it warms to a floral hoppy and nicely baked bread aroma, very nice indeed.
Flavor is a dance of light bready malts and a sharp hop backbite- no shortage of hops here. But for the style, I crave some pepper, some fruit, something else- almost a one-note (or two-note) flavor profile. No complexity.
Mouthfeel is very creamy, but a little thin. Not as robust of a flavor profile that I expect from the style, but still quite tasty.
I like it, but honestly, don't love it.
