From a 750 ml bottle into a wine glass. Reviewed from notes dated August 31, 2013.
A-A normal pour produces over two fingers of dense, white head with good retention. The brew is light-honey/golden in color with a little bit of murky haze. A nice looking brew that is pretty much spot-on for the style.
S-The smell is a nicely balanced mixture of sweet, doughy malt flavors, fruity alcohol, and earthy, lightly-bitter hop flavors. I get suggestions of musty white grape, apricot, and a bit of grapefruit.
T-The taste is a little bit sweeter than the smell, with the sharpness of the hops moving towards the background. I get white grape, apricot, and a bit of white pepper, as well as bready, doughy, pale malts. A nice mixture, but nothing spectacular.
M-The feel is a little thinner than I would expect and there is a watery wetness that doesn't fit entirely with the flavors. Carbonation is moderate.
O-This is a perfectly good, but not great, Belgian style beer. It is good-looking and I like the mixture of fruits on the palate, but I found myself thinking that something about this beer was just sort of, I don't know, blah. Maybe it is the lackluster mouthfeel. Hmmm...Anyway, just because this brew is a little boring doesn't make it a bad beer. In fact, I would readily drink this again, but it is not one that I would go searching after in the future.
