Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

2 Turtle Doves is the second in the 12 Days/Years of Christmas Series. We decided to take our inspiration from the name and base the beer on the "turtle" candy, brewing it with cocoa nibs, toasted pecans, caramelized sugar and a lot of caramel malts. Somewhere between a Belgian-style Dark Strong Ale and an Imperial Porter, this beer is designed to take the journey through time until 12 Drummers Drumming.

Poured from 750ml bottle into Chamay glassware.

A- Nice porter brown dark color with a small amount of head receeding to the sides of the glass leaving little or no lacing. Kind of dissapointed with the head on this one but the color is very nice.

S- Wow, nice toasted pecan/malt scent with some great chocolate, some subtle alcohol scents, really a great smelling belgian with nice yeasty aromas.

T- Great chocolate covered pecans as soon as you sip this beer followed by some great belgian yeast flavors. Really great dark flavors leaning toward a nice porter.

M- Very light carbonation which is nice but hopefully this will last long enough for the 12 days of Christmas. All in all right now the mouthfeel is good medium body with light carbonation.

D- Easy to drink at 12% with loads of chocolate, pecan, belgian yeast flavors. I can't wait to crack the other 3 bottles that I have but will wait 1 year, 3-5 years, and on the 12th day of Christmas. I also should be getting a -bal version from the Reserve Society that I cannot wait to try.

Bottle popped at 55 degrees in a wine glass. Smell was unimpressed with some mild candy, brown sugar and leather notes that weren't very strong in either direction. Poured with a tiny bit of dirty brown ring head but had a cappuccino type of swirling which was impressive. Taste had a nice Belgian dark base to it with some caramel,
Cocoa, sugars, nice depth and would love the barreled version I think.
Would easily get this again
