Ripe 2014 vintage
Not a menacing pour - very dark brown, sits oily black in the glass with ruby/brown tinge at the edge.
Incredibly rich aroma of chocolate - milk chocolate from the vanilla beans, very dark heavy chocolate as well. Prominent raw bourbon - very boozy. Graham cracker, toffee, marzipan and bourbon caramel. Very sweet - the booze prevents it from being cloying.
Intense boozy flavor - very rich chocolate, sweet bourbon caramel, pronounced bourbon/oak vanilla, toffee, slight dark fruit astringency. Huge beer - sticky, full, appropriately light carbonation doesn't get in the way.
Absolutely fantastic beer even though almost overly sweet. Been hunting this one down for a while and it did not disappoint. It is a decadent version of black tuesday - a great variation but where it gains intense chocolate and vanilla flavors it covers up the dark fruits, which were so fantastic.
