On tap at the Reserve Society poured into wine tasting glass.

A- Nice hazy brown color almost amber toward the edges with a nice fluffy head that left some lacing behind.

S- Candied fruit, vanilla, bourbon, oak, subtle chocolate notes and a smoke element. Had a smell of nice bourbon as it warmed up.

T- Nice oaky vanilla bourbon up front with nice candied fruit, definate flavors of apple, sugar, baking spices, bready yeast.

M- Full body beer who's bourbon flavors were very apparent. Carbonation was very nice, not to much but it was there.

D- Very nice beer that I couldn't get enough of, at 14% you tend to not notice after your first glass. Wish they would bottle this...

On tap at 2nd anaversary party.

Pours a merky brown. No head. Little lacing.

Aroma of some smokiness. Dark caramels.

Tastes the same with some dark fruits thrown in. A little sweet.

Mouthfeel is heavy after a while. But ok. Nice carb.

Overall a good beer. O couldn't drink alot but it is good.

On tap at The Bruery for the Reserve Society Initiation. Oh man, DBJW. I feel dirty even reviewing this. Where the hell did this name come from? The beer, like the name, is pretty interesting. Not like many I've had before.

Pours ruddy brown with not much in the way of head, just a few bubbles.

Aroma is really bourbony. Some caramel, wood, smoke, and dark fruits in there as well.

Flavor is complex and pretty crazy. Caramel, toffee, earth, leather, smoke, and sweet rum raisin cake. Oh yeah, and booze. Quite a bit of it in this one. 15% ABV is not surprising.

Smooth and medium-full on the palate with low carbonation. Lots of alcohol warmth, as this is a bit hot.

Drinkability is above average. Overall this is an interesting and good beer, but the booziness kept it from being an awesome one. As far as epic names go though, the name of this beer is one. 10/10 for that category.

Muddy, murky brown, this beer is appropriately named. Moderately carbed, pouring with a thin head that settles to a collar pretty quickly. A lot of floaties and sediment.

The nose makes up for the appearance and then some. Plenty of glorious bourbon -bal on display here, along with burnt caramel, smoke, toffee candies and vanilla. Surprisingly, there's not a trace of booze.

Palate is rich and complex. Unexpected fruitiness, toffee, bourbon and vanilla at the forefront, with a subtle note of smoke. Very full bodied and sweet in the usual Bruery fashion, with lower-moderate carbonation. Some pleasant oxidation comes out as it warms up, lending even more depth. An awesome beer, hopefully they'll revisit this blend.

Dirty Beaver Juice Weekend is a blend commemorating Beachwood BBQ's third anniversary. It is a blend of The Bruery's anniversary ale (2010 version, which will be dubbed Coton), White Oak Sap (100% barrel aged White Oak), and a special smoked beer. The name is an amalgamation of suggested names for the brew from patrons of Beachwood. The name alone should immortalize this brew.

Dirty Beaver Juice Weekend hahahahaha... errr... Dirty Beaver Juice Weekend poured into my chalice with a deep dark brown hue along with a faint tight ring of light brown bubbles along the extremities of the glass. Not much head here, though not much should be expected on a fifteen percent blend. Aromas of maple, butterscotch, and scotch emanate from the glass. The scotch aroma is contrived from the peaty smokey nature of the smoked beer mixed with the buttery oak from White Oak Sap. All three elements of the beer come together in an uncanny fashion to form a cohesive whole.

Flavors of maple, smoked peaty malts, butterscotch, chocolate liqueur, and decades old Scotch whiskey greet my tongue. Finish brings a bit of spice to the mix for a malty, boozy finish. This is beer is delicious and in your face, not for the faint of heart who cry and rate beers a B- for having "too much flavor." It's here, it's beer, it's delicious. The body is obviously thick, though it doesn't feel quite as thick as is expected and instead has a low yet prickly carbonation that still conveys the complexities and inherent heat of the brew. This blend is truly outstanding. It takes the biggest features of its base beers and mixes them together to create something harmonious.

Great beer. Cheers to Beachwood BBQ for three years of stolid dedication to only the best beers in the world, great food, and their support of local and craft breweries.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ for their 3rd anniversary.

A: The pour is dark brown in color with a few little bubbles littering the surface.

S: The smell is like a good scotch. A lot of smoke, alcohol, wood, butterscotch, and vanilla. Perhaps a bit of peat in there too.

T: The taste is quite sweet and has a fair amount of booze to it as well. The vanilla, butterscotch, alcohol, and smoke really are the big components of this beer. The oak comes through quite a bit as well. And did I mention it's boozy? An interesting blend for sure.

M: The mouthfeel is quite heavy and creamy. The carbonation is light, and I think it would have been helped out with a bit more on that front.

D: This is a very boozy beer. I found the flavors to be quite nice, but I just could not get past the level of alcohol heat in this. I'm sure it would mellow out with time, but obviously, that's probably not going to happen.

A: Chunks in every pour. This beer pours a hazy, dirty, shit colored brown with tons of floating chunks of what I can only imagine is dirty beaver juice. Not much of a head but some soapy lacing was left down the glass.
S: Smells sweet with notes of chocolate and something smoky. The smell is strange and unique, and kind of salty. I can pick out the alcohol as well.
T: Tastes like a strange mix of cleaned out tap lines and alcohol, but not necessarily in a terrible way. I get notes of bourbon, caramel, toffee, chocolate and more alcohol.
M: Fizzy carbonation but it’s low. Mouthfeel is heavy with a syrupy alcoholic body. For such a high ABV though, this is crazy easy to drink.
O: This one was definitely weird. It was good, but the flavors were all over the place. I do thank you for the tick though, Nick. Cheers.

Also known as Mélange #5. On tap at the Bruery Reserve Society party. The beer pours tawny and turbid dirty menstrual tainted rust water with a small head. The nose is strong bourbon accompanied by caramel, toffee, wood, tannins, and a light smoke character. The flavor is big and boozy, with notes of caramel and a lot of bourbon. The flavor is a bit smokier than I found the nose to be, but it's still somewhat restrained. I drank a lot of this but I was rather distracted talking to ArthurPendragon while I wrote this review. When we'd finally finished our heated conversation, he cursed me and, stole my pen, and left. I shook my fist at him and bellowed countercurses. Without a pen, I could write no more.

With much anticipation, I ordered and engulfed a 10 oz. of this delicious beer in commemoration of Beachwood's 3rd Anniversary.

A: The main color was black and brown with perhaps some hints of burgundy upon further investigation. The cream colored head and lacing looked extremely appealing as well, exhibiting nitro-like qualities throughout the whole beer.

S: Brown and candied sugar, bourbon, and wood were the main components. The smoke aroma seemed to take a back seat, but was evident at times.

T: Again, lots of bourbon and sugar flavors upfront with tons of green grape/apple (similar to that you would find in a white zinfandel) towards the back end. Reminded me, in many ways, of Melange #3 (also produced by the Bruery).

M: A full bodied beer throughout most of the session, but on occasion...the beer seemed to thin out.

D: I thought this blend was very well balanced; more so than previous barrel aged beers from the Bruery. With that in mind, it made this beverage easier to approach and finish.

Overall: Very impressed and wished they had bottled a few to take home. A must try. Cheers!

Wow, thanks to FUCT, I get to review a thimble sized pour of this.

Fairly still pour, no surprise, burnt orange in color, dots of lace fall with a bit of winelike legs.

Wow, great aroma, rich caramels, booze through the back (stinging at times), just barely enough smoke in a toaster oven kind of way. More bourbony booze. Great complexity throughout with vanilla, some nuttier notes, huge maltiness with deep raisiny fruitiness, doses of smoke. Very low carbonation, practically non-existant, but never felt as massive as some of their other 'big' beers somehow (BT, papier). Still good and enjoyable to sip on, though boozy. I kept it on the side throughout sampling a few other beers and really liked it. I wonder if this will ever make a bottled or wider tap debut.

Did I hear Dirty Beaver Juice Weekend calling my name? Wow just wow. It's a Boozy American Strong Ale and 15% and not made anymore. It was only brewed once for Beachwood BBQ's 3rd Anniversary. The name was taken from suggestions from the crowd at the bbq and each word was taken out of a hat- ala Grateful Dead style.

It poured a murky, cloudy mahogany. It smelled of caramel, raisins, prune, bourbon and some wood. It tasted amazing: vanilla, a bit of nuttiness, burnt sugar, butterscotch, bourbon, mmmm. Apparently it is a blend of: Bruer's Anniversary Ale (2010 version, which will be called Coton), White Oak Sap (100% barrel aged White Oak) and a special smoked beer.

I thought I had lost my review notes for this one, but found them in my binder as I was cleaning through it.

Had this on tap at the Reserve Society Initiation.

Served in my wine-like tasting glass.

Pours very little khaki colored head. Color is a murky brown with a slight ruby hue to it. Nothing overly appealing, but what does a strong ale look like?

Aroma: Some bourbon and oak right up front. Lots of malts here. Caramel shines through the most. Has some dark dried fruits. A really big beer.

Taste: Again, the bourbon is right up front with the malts. Caramel and toffee show easily. More dark fruits. Apples, raisins, and a hint of molasses. Also get the oak flavors.

Mouthfeel: This is a fairly large bodied beer. It is pretty warming, but decently smooth. A low to medium amount of carbonation. Ends with a nice dose of bourbon.

Overall, I had no idea I was drinking a 15%. It drinks pretty easy in that sense. I am glad I got to try this one before the keg kicked at the party. It was an interesting treat and pretty good overall. I had no problem with my glass, but knowing it was 15% may have made me drink it slower.
