750mL bottle acquired through the Reserve Society. 8.49. Not sure why but it appears that The Bruery either stopped dating bottles or just doesn't date any bottles sold through their store. Served in a Dogfish Head snifter.
Pours hazy russet red/brown with a fluffy three finger cap of sand colored head. The head fades slowly and leaves large lace splotches.
Smells of light citrus, bready, mild toffee, oak and vague vanilla.
The taste of citrus hops is nice and up front. Mandarin orange, lemon zest, slight pine, caramel, wheat bread, oaky vanilla, toffee and a trace of cherry skin bitterness. Many layers of flavor.
Medium bodied and semi slick with a lively effervescence. Softly bitter muted earthy yet citrus hoppy finish.
A mighy fine red ale. Nice hop character with an even nicer complex enjoyable oaky malt body. I enjoyed this much more than the Imperial Loakal Red. This has a great balance to it with no noticeable alcohol. I'll definately buy this again when I see it.
