A: Pours a slightly hazy, deep amber, capped by just over two fingers of frothy, off-white head. Retention is good as it settles slowly, leaving moderate lacing down the glass.

S: Big hop presence up front with juicy grapefruit and tangerines, along with a dose of pine. Sweet caramel base with some oak around the edges.

T: Strong hops up front with an abundance of citrus again, joined by some pine notes. Juicy grapefuit stands out until just after the mid-palate where the caramel base, toffee, and lightly toasted sweet bread shine through along with some light oak and vanilla. Citrusy hops return and lead to a finish of sweet fruits. Taste lies somewhere between 4 and 4.5, but isn't quite far enough to make the leap upwards.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

D: Extremely easy drinking and the hop profile, while intense, is very well done.

Bottled 12/26/13

A - 4.25 - The beer itself is a nice clear orange amber color with a thick white head that sticks and leave nice lacing.
S - 4.5 - More complex than any other red ale I've had. Floral hop notes, orange, bready biscuity malt, sweet caramel malt too/sweetness from the oak aged portion, light oak
T - 4.5 - Citrusy, orange zest, floral, bready malt background, tiny bit of mellow oak flavor and vanilla. Very smooth.
M - 4.25 - Light drinking @ 6.5% ABV w the alcohol completely covered. Aftertaste is hop bitterness and breadiness from the malt.
O - 4.5 - It's an interesting concept, and a great red ale, but I was expecting to get more from the oak barrels. I guess with only 25% being aged in barrels you'd expect it to be pretty mellow.

A This is a beautiful beer--golden/orange that was reminiscent of an IPA rather than an amber or red ale
S Strong hop on the front end, a bit piney, slightly spicy with an almost coppery (in a good way) undertone
T the hop and the coppery taste is very strong on the initial taste, but the malty backbone rounds out the flavor into a balanced experience. very well balanced.
M this is my favorite aspect of the beer--simply terrific mouthfeel. perfectly carbonated for the flavor profile.
O This is a fantastic beer; very impressive. I think this is in my top two or three from The Bruery.

A-Deep ruby in the glass with a two finger head that leaves nice lacing.

S-Rather malty with caramel. Along with good bit of citrus and earthy hops. Slight oak notes as well.

T-Very similar to the nose; malt and caramel to start. Then a nice hop finish with grass and slight citrus. Mild bitterness. Oak is in there as well, more of it as it warms.

M-Medium bodied, nicely carbonated.

O-A solid beer, worth trying at least once.

750ml Bottle from the Palm Desert Total Wine for $13

Appearance - Red/brownd colour with an average size beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, hops, grapefruit, apricot

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, grapefruit, and hops. There is also some apricot, a sugary sweetness, and a hint of wood.

Overall - Really enjoyed this one. Lots of sweet fruity notes and vibrant hops. The wood is a bit subdued, but still gives it a certain something. Pricey, but worth trying.

Pours a dark red / amber with a thick heavy white head glued to glass. Smell was a bit underwhelming for me, but some crisp hops, smooth caramel and bread hold it together. Taste is very good: chewy caramel sweetness up front, bread and malt in the middle with the oak aging coming through too, and some and some pepper, spice and hoppy bitterness bring up the rear. Feel is thick but a bit soapy. Overall, decent red, not my go to style, but Bruery made it a pleasant experience for me.
