750ml bottle I kept in the fridge for weeks at colder than ideal temperatures. I pulled it out to share, the cap came off and beer exploded out the top. After the cleanup of my entire kitchen...the brew appears a murky brown with yellowish stained cap. Some spotty to patchy lace sticks on the glass as the 5 fingers of head slowly fade.
The smell is an absolute mess...totally carbonic and mineral filled. Underneath is some caramel, toffee fruity alcohol/herbal to pine hops and oak. Really a shame that the major component of this brew's nose is minerals and carbonic character instead of what is advertised.
The taste follows suit with carbonic and mineral charcter. After trying to avoid the sheer flavor of carbonic acid, there are notes of raw oak and hops tasting herbal, catty and pine-like. It is bitter with faint caramel malt sweetness underneath/towards the back.
This is a medium to lighter bodied brew that is explosively carbonated. Not that good, would not buy again. I cant believe this bottle didnt explode prior to me opening it. Im sure my experience is atypical of what the Bruery intended and what others have reviewed but I would never waste my money knowing this "might" be whats inside loakal red again.
