750mL bottle poured into a tulip.
(A)- Pours a dark brown; almost black color. Some reddish highlights. Produced a good frothy tan head. Decent retention. Minimal lacing.
(S)- A mellow roasted nuttiness. Bits of raisin, plum, and dry oaky vanilla.
(T)- Very similar to the smell. A mellow roasted walnut/almond/hazelnut aspect. Some dark plum and date fruits. Finishes dry with subtle oaky vanilla. Lots of raisin comes in as it warms.
(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Smooth, with a mellow richness. I like the dry oaky finish it has. Good ABV integration.
(D)- A solid Belgian Strong. Smooth and mildy rich with that small % of barrel aging creating a nice dry oaky finish. I can see it getting even better with a few years on it, but 9? I dont know this would last that long even under the most ideal cellar conditions, however it is a pretty good beer.
