115th Review on BA
Bottle to taster
4 oz pour.
Served on 12-17-2010.
Saw on the website today that they would be having this so had to come down for a night of fun at the Bruery. Super glad I did!!! Brought the brother in law from DC with me. He was quite happy I did.
App- It poured a very dark brown when held to the light. A very small head developed but was not inclined to stay for very long. The lacing was non existant as well.
Smell- When I reviewed the regular 2TD it had some choc. chip cookies and some with a touch of caramel. Now, its gone. The bourbon barrel has added a big boozy smell with the darker fruits.
Taste- The mouth follows the nose as the figs, cherries and bourbon come through on the taste. I think a bit more time in the bottle to settle the flavors would have been good, but seeing as I missed the PIAPT BB. I am very happy to have tried this one. The flavors are very large but don't overcome what you are drinking though. I think was better than the normal 2TD.
Mouth- On this one I was pleasantly suprised at the lighter feel to it. I felt it was lighter than the standard 2TD and the bourbon really added to the aftertaste.
Drink- It was a very well done beer. I think trying something new with the base they had was pretty feasable. The dessert factor was still there of having a pecan pie. I still say having a side to pair with is the way to go with the 12 days series.

2020 Vintage
375ml bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours deep brown in color with a one-finger foamy light khaki colored head that has good retention
S- smells of chocolate pastry, vanilla icing, raisins, figs, plenty of oaky bourbon barrel, cherry and some peppery yeast
T- sweet and malty with chocolate and booze soaked raisins, followed by fig, cherry and caramel chews. Mid-palate brings out bold barrel juice, adding oak and enhancing the caramel. The finish gives more sweet chocolate and cherry, with more barrel at the linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly creamy, warming finish

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown beer which is essentially black. The beer is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger and a half of light tan head which fades quickly without a trace
S: Smells of brown sugar, caramel, dark fruits, and some spices with hints of molasses.
T: Taste is a little vanilla and caramel with some dark sugars, molasses, dark fruits, spices, and oak. On the swallow there's more dark fruits, dark sugars, and molasses with some lingering oak.
M: this beer has a somewhat creamy feel on the palate with a moderate amount of heft. Carbonation is there but it is a bit on the low end while the beer has a drying finish due to the ABV.
O: Overall this is a really nice beer. It has good flavors and a nice amount of complexity. Overall it's also held up very well over time and doesn't seem to be showing any serious signs of oxidation.

Pours slightly darker than mahogany with a tight band around the edges. Nose reveals toffee, ethanol, dark fruit and cereal grains. Taste consistent with nose; however, there's also some oxidation present. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a mild, even carbonation. Overall a solid offering but not much of the barrel is present.

On tap at the Bruery 8th Anniversary celebration on 05/14 /16.
Pours an opaque dark caramel color with very little head to speak of. Silky smooth texture with caramel malt, vanilla, oak, maple, toffee and bourbon aspects. I'm not sure how this tasted in 2009 but, seven years later, this is absolutely world class.
