Didn't expect to like, but enjoyed quite a bit.

Pours a pale, slightly yellow hazy with a thin film of white over it. Smells like spices (coriander? pepper?), a bit of flowery citrus, and a nice pleasant ... yeastiness.

Taste is primarily that spicy, yeasty, belgian-y citrus with a bit of zest to it, but the spices are nicely blended rather than distracted, and it has a pleasant orange rind aftertaste to it.

Taken this style about as far as it can be taken, methinks. A pleasant enough drink.

this bottle is a few years old, stored well. opened with no outward expression of carbonation. using a bruery chalice ...poured flat with no head...bubbles clinging to the side sparsely..cloudy in appearance. medium straw color...

nose - pineapple...mangoes...sweet wine must....peaches..

mouth - tropical fruits....yeasty...a bit dry...lots of small bubbles...but somehow....still tasting...peach juice...slight tannins...easy and quick on the palate...

moderately meow...would drink again....

Looking forward to this surprise.

Pours a light gold with near excellent clarity. Etched white central dome and rim of white foam. Smells of flowers - almost a lily character, some sweet wheat, some orange pith, a bit of seed of paradise - nice nose. Flavor is a nice wheaty, grainy, slightly sweet bready beer. Some bits of squash and a slight tartness on the edge. Medium bodied with soft, but well allocated carb, slightly dry. A nice beer.

Received as an extra in a trade poured into a dogfish head chalice.

A - Poured a nice hazy golden hue with a nice half a finger white head that faded to leave light wisping, halo, and thin lacing.

S - Aromas really caught me off guard here. Huge orange peel, coriander, light vanilla, and a touch of nutmeg. As it warms the nutmeg really pops out. Holy cow.

T - Taste is not quite as good as the nose but still tasty. Very fall like, with lots or orange peel, nice coriander, lots more nutmeg with some faint vanilla. I don't really get any typical wit notes though.

M - Mouthfeel is nice for the style with the firm carbonation helping to mask the ABV. This was a slow gusher though.

O - Overall I was really impressed with this Provision. Wish I has gotten to try it fresh but even now a year later this beer still works for me. Really like the orange with the more and more assertive nutmeg coming out. Awesome.

Thank you womencantsail for sending this!
750 mL bottle poured into a tulip
My bottle was a gusher

A- A hazy golden/yellow with a hint of orange and a huge white head.

S- Banana, oranges peels, nutmeg, coriander, vanilla.

T- Fruity and spicy, orange peels, light fruits, hint of lemon, banana, wheat, cloves, coriander, nutmeg, touch of vanilla, there is a lot going on and it works well together.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A good beer that I wish I could have tried fresh like the bottle recommends. I feel that it has held up well and I would gladly drink this again.

A: Unsurprisingly cloudy pale yellow in color. Forms about an inch or so of white head that drops down to a ring around the glass and a faint surface coating. No lacing.

S: I've got to admit, the aroma is quite complex on this one. Starts off with a bit of pale malt, before turning to a blend of banana, orange, and vanilla. There is also a bit of yeasty esters in the mix along with some medicinal herbal qualities.

T: The taste is fairly sweet on the front end, with lots of citrus, orange, and banana, before becoming more herbal with notes of coriander and yeasty spice.

M: On the lighter side of medium with a carbonation approaching the heavy side of things. Heavy spiciness leaves a mild, chemical-like numbness in the mouth.

O: Overall, this beer was pretty good, being reminiscent of a standard wit beer with the volume turned up on it. Drinkability was still pretty good, but I'm admittedly not a huge fan of spiced beers, and this one showing a lot of it.

A - Pours a cloudy golden-yellow color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of wheat, banana, clove, Belgian yeast esters, coriander and other spices, lemon zest, and a touch of nutmeg.

T - Starts off with a mix of lemon and orange zest and citrus flavors with some sweet wheat and some Belgian yeast spices. Through the middle, the banana and clove flavors come through with some more spices including coriander and nutmeg. The finish is a mix of wheat, yeast esters and spices, lemon zest, and some floral flavors.

M - Medium bodied with moderate-plus carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and lightly sweet and spicy finish.

D - Very drinkable. Remarkably smooth for a 9% abv beer. The flavors are fairly bold for the style but well balanced.

Sampled August 2011
A hearty pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass almost produces a two-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a rich gold color that shows a clear, bright yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The beer smells of sweet hay, citrusy coriander and vanilla orange cream. After some time a more herbal, earthy, spice character becomes quite noticeable from the coriander. Interesting, it almost seems like there is some diacetyl here in the aroma, though I think that this slight buttery note is from something else. A hint of nutmeg scents the nose after a bit & it seems to accentuate the earthy notes of the coriander more than anything.

The beer has a sweetness to it up front and through to the middle, but the coriander quickly adds a bitter, drying, earthy herbal note in the finish. The finish is actually somewhat sharp and biting, some of it is the prickly bite from the carbonation, some of it seems to be from some bitterness, but most of it seems to be from the coriander, perhaps the nutmeg, and the higher alcohols and phenolic spiciness from the yeast. Actually, now that I mentioned it, I think a lot of this is from the nutmeg; it is not overly noticeable, but seems to add to the palate presence in the finish, more than an actual flavor. The body of this beer is actually fairly light for a beer of this strength, it does have some fullness to it and even sticks to the palate for a bit. The palate is ultimately cleaned by some warming higher alcohols as well as from the nutmeg / coriander combination that provides a touch of harshness to the finish.

This was an interesting concept, meaning the nutmeg, but I don’t actually think it works. It seems to accentuate the harsher, dirtier notes from the coriander. Coriander in beer is often too earthy and dirty, I like it best when it contributes a clean, bright citrus character; this beer definitely is not that. It is really the finish in the flavor that is not all that great; hot, astringent, somewhat hard-herbal and just too coriander / nutmeg harsh.
