Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a golden color with a white head. The aroma has a lot going on. I get some oak and vanilla notes, as well as some biscuit malt and a little bit of grass. The flavor is more complex. I still get the oak and vanilla notes from the barrel aging, but they are complimented by some biscuit malt and grass and earth from the hops. There is also a good bit of alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle (2011)

Thanks for the gift, NoSignsOfPain!

(Aged for 1+ year)

Dark, clear yellow with a thin off-white head that leaves dots of lace down the glass.

Sweet grains and breads make up most of the aroma, along with a bit of vanilla and a very mild wood presence.

The sweet malt and grains make up the largest flavor component, with a bit of vanilla and honey complementing things. There's definitely some alcohol harshness throughout, even after the aging.

Medium bodied with moderate/high carbonation, though it's a bit prickly and not entirely pleasant.

Decent enough, but unspectacular. One of the few average beers from The Bruery.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a frothy head that leaves some streaks behind

Smell: Malty and oaky, with a faint grassy and herbal character

Taste: Opens with toffee malt that adds an oaky element before merging with the herbal and grassy flavors at mid-palate; a touch boozy, after the swallow, with a nice flavor merge into the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Though I am not a fan of Maibocks, I found that the oak and herbal elements made this beer rather intriguing

Thanks, Madirish76, for the opportunity

A - Pours a cloudy golden-orange with a big frothy finger of white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of oak, with some malty and grain sweetness, citrus and floral hop, lemon zest, and a bit of booze.

T - Starts off with a mix of oak with some sweet malts and grains and some light fruit notes. Through the middle, some floral and citrus hop flavor comes through with some bitterness and corn. The finish is a mix of oak, sweet bready malts, light fruit notes, floral hops, and some booze.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and malty finish.

D - Very drinkable. Very much an Imperial version of the style, and the oak goes nicely with the beer. The malt and other flavors are nicely balanced.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

A: Clear, brassy golden color with less than one finger of white foam head that collapses to a nearly-continuous residue. Light lacing remains on the glass.

S: Mid-range grain is metered in intensity. The smell has a tangy edge to it that suggests sourness, or possibly something metallic. Oak is strong although occluded by other early qualities. Spirit is suggested, but not truly boozy.

T: Begins off-dry, with refined toasty malt and moderate latent acidity. Unaffected and fairly fresh oak is distinctive throughout--even defining--while spirit qualities are de-emphasized. Malt becomes more soft and bready toward the finish where bitterness is slight.

M: Thin to medium viscosity, soft on the palate but acidic at times, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: This bock is about as-expected: similar in many ways to Rogue John John Dead Guy but more refined. It sips effortlessly enough, but also provides fuel for the argument that more reverent applications can be found for oak barrels.

Pours dark gold with a slight soapy head.

Aroma is caramel malt, hints of dark fruit, and alcohol heat.

Taste is bready caramel malt and hints of brown sugar up front. Generous dry oak and vanilla. Mild plum and raisin dark fruit sweetness. Finishes surprisingly hot. Lingering orange peel bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Overall a pleasant malt bomb. Alcohol comes on strong in this one, but I don't mind exsessive alcohol presence.

Poured a nice clean amber with a light white head..

The smell was light and oaky, a touch sweet and bready.

The flavor is good, but a bit mild, sweet and oaky with a light vanilla touch. Very bready and malt centric.

Has a nice dry oaky mouthfeel.

Good, but not great and a bit non descript.
