On-tap at Provisions,
A: Pours a deep red-brown to umber, medium off-white head, some lace.
S: Very gamey, smoked venison type nose initially, with some molasses and dates.
T: This is starting to get interesting. As opposed to BA Papier and Coton which were still very much straight up old ales and showed tons of barrel character, the BA Cuir is starting to show signs of the solera system. As with the previous incarnations, there is a heavy brown sugar, molasses, prune/dried fruit backbone to this beer. What I found most intriguing were the oxidative characteristics, there is a clear oloroso sherry note in this and having this back to back with BA Coton the effect of the solera method is clear. I can only imagine this will get more prominent as the new anniversaries are bottled.
M: Smooth and silky, with a very light carbonation. Very full-bodied, just a tad cloying.
O: A real good and contemplative effort. I just wish this would go on at the tasting room so I can delve into it more.

A) Dark, dense rusted brown. Not much in terms of foam; just a little around the collar. Sediment in the bottom.
S) Molasses, brown sugar, oak char, dark berries, leather, caramel, toffee. For 14.5% abv it doesn't smell boozy at all.
T) The taste is hotter with alcohol all over the finish. Sugary and sticky. Toasted bread, molasses, caramel, nail polish and modest oak.
M) Full, slick sugary/alcohol feel. Carbonation is quite low. Overall, it is too heavy of a feel.
D) Drinkable as a slow sipper. It is nice in that it isn't incredibly hot.
