Pours a healthy head, strong lacing which eventually settle into a ring. Dark mahogany color.

Caramel, raisin, chocolate, vanilla.

RICH. Creme brulee, vanilla, maple, bits of chocolate contrasted with cinammon and notes of orange. The bourbon is in the background, quickly helping to destroy my senses.

Alcohol is negligible, bits of it hit in the finish - behind the many layers of thick caramel and vanilla.

So yeah, quite good and apparently versatile. Paired it with some aged Gouda and cheddar and it was outstanding, also could serve as a dessert beer - I'd pour this on vanilla ice cream like chocolate syrup. Make sure you share this one....if possible.

On tap at 38degrees (BA Week)
It wasn't poured properly so it and no head to make an accurate review on. Color was a mirky brown with a slight reddish tint.

Rich sweet nose of dark fruit soaked in alcohol, prunes

Burst of great but not overwhelming sweetness initially. Notes of figs, prunes, raisins, dates and caramel, alcohol and backended oak.

Full bodied with pretty good carbonation. Rich and sticky mouth.

Overall a very good beer. Full flavored rich sweetness balanced pretty well with the large abv and nice subtle oak on the back end.

On tap at Bruery Anny party. Reviewed from notes. 2.5oz pour in 5oz glass.

Mahogany in color. Kinda cloudy. Thin tan head dissapated to ring. Slight lacing.

Aromahits you with the bourbon first. Caramel and toasted sugars are prominent. Bit of oak and dark fruits.

Tastes just as it smells. Lots of oak and bourbon with caramel and toasted sugars. Tasty.

Mouthfeel is smooth but has a bit of an alcohol burn.

Overall I liked BA coton better but this is damn tasty. I do like the regular Cuir better than regular papier and coton.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Didn't write down the bottle info for this one. I'm slacking. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Rich mahogany body. Khaki head. Sticky and sugary-looking as it clings to the glass. I'm amazed by the head for this ABV.

Smell - Great bourbon, oak, and vanilla. Sweet caramel and leather. I wrote down "Pilgrim hat." What the hell does that mean?

Taste - Bourbon and sweet caramel. Not as complex as the aroma, but the barrel still comes through nicely. Vanilla and some oak tannins. Extremely sweet.

Mouthfeel - High carbonation, which is stunning. Boozy, but still not quite what I expected from the ABV of this guy. Thick and extremely sweet. Not quite as much as Black Tuesday, but it's still standard operating procedure for the Bruery's giant beers.

Overall - Good. The bourbon is great. The beer is just too sweet. That much sugar keeps it less than great.

Holy jumping fuckin' shitballs, this is a great beer. Poured into my Bruery snifter from the bottle while watching Drag Me to Hell (I salute you, Sam Raimi).

Deep brownish crimson, perfect clarity when held up to the light, impressive cap of tan foam that just never seems to completely go away. Nice legs when swirled. Oh, and I really like the bottle/label/wax on this too, which is just a bonus. Awesome.

Smell is outstanding. Candy aromas abound - toffee, caramel, rum raisin, perhaps a bit of generic nuttiness, booze, and a good amount of vanilla and bourbon to round it out. Awesome.

Taste... is to die for. Ye gods. This series is incredible, and seems to keep getting better. I had a bottle of the BA Coton a couple weeks ago and was floored, and I think this is better. Big bourbon, figs and raisins, toffee crunch, caramel, and a big spoonful of vanilla cream. Awesome.

Mouthfeel is absolutely perfect. Full, rich, not quite syrupy, long lasting finish. Perfect amount of carbonation. Awesome.

Overall: Did I mention this beer is awesome? Black Tuesday might want to move over, I may have a new favorite from the Bruery.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy dark-brown. Fair size beige head that dissipated quickly. I think the Bal-aged Cuir was darker than the regular Cuir I had.

Smell: Bourbon notes dominate, some faint brown sugar and toffee notes. I got some alcohol in the regular Cuir but none in the BA version.

Taste: Bourbon, some fruity sherry notes, some brown sugar, vanilla and toffee. The beer finishes slightly sweet with some Bourbon notes.

Mouth-feel: Full body with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Overall: I'm definitely a fan of this one. I also liked the regular Cuir quite a bit. The overall difference between the bal-aged version and the standard version has appeared to narrow compared to Coton, but the Bruery's barrel aging efforts are apparent in the smoothness and increased complexity of the Bal-aged version. It'll be interesting to compare both versions of next year's Anniversary beer as the regular version appears to get smoother and more complex with every generation.

Shared this one with beeruser, funkydelic, StayWhatYouAre2, 67couple, and others at a recent tasting graciously hosted by beeruser! This was tasted side-by-side with regular version! Bottle #1335! Served from bottle into a Duvel Parra tulip. Poured a deep red brown with a minimal light tan head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, dark chocolate, caramel, big oak, subtle sweet alcohol, and dark fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, dark fruit, caramel, dark chocolate, sweet alcohol, and wood. It had a medium feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this brew was nothing short of excellent. This was surprisingly one of the highlights on the night for everyone involved in the tasting. You could not pick out very much of the base brew in this one at all if I'm honest. And dark chocolate!? Are you kidding me!? Really well done brew from the Bruery once again. So glad I shelled out the money to be in the Reserve Society this year and this brew reminds me why I am.
