Batch 2 picked up locally (woo hoo for this hitting distro!)...enjoyed from my Bruery snifter.
a - brew poured a dark purple, almost brown with a thin off grey bubbly head that bubbled away within a minute. swirling the glass brought things back to life briefly. lacing was streaky but slid down the glass not really leaving much of a trace it was ever there.
s - wonderful tart hits my nose. plums and dark fruits blended with sweet tarts. really smells just wonderful. the oak is perfect.
t - slam you in the face sour at first. sour cherry with some full bodied malt and dark fruit in the background. really tickles my tongue. the oak is very present.
m - puckeringly sour. coats my mouth with sour excellence. fairly full bodied.
o - overall i had my doubts on this one but after a buddy told me how blown away he was by it, i had to give it a try and glad i did while it is still around so i can get more. what a nice surprise. this new trend of dark sours are really enjoyable. seems to be pretty polarizing, but i can't really understand why...unless a lot of people aren't into sours who are trying this. if you like sour beer, you'll like this. nicely done.
