poured orangish red in color with yellow highlights and a thin head that left almost no lacing sticking to the glass. definitely had a cherry aroma upfront with acidic, funky, oaky, and citrusy notes. The cherry flavor was more prominent on the palate alongside oaky barrel, citrus, funky bretty notes and with a touch of acidic sour accents. the brew was light to medium in body with a low amount o carbonation which had a fruity, oaky, funky, citrusy, and sour finish. drank really well and was damn tasty, fit the style great as well.

Draft to Bruery Tulip

@The Bruery for Sunday Sour day

App- A mix of oranges and reds and a little pink in the glass. A fairly flat pour with a few lazy bubbles. A ring of tiny bubbles around the edges as well.

Smell- A nice nose to this. Very traditional Kriek with a tart acidity and a lot of tart ripened cherries. A little funky on the nose as well.

Taste- Much more tart and acidity than I thought they would make this. I really enjoyed it. It was A little vinegar, a little funk and some nice ripe tart cherries.

Mouth- Light bodied and high carbed. The cherry finish was a very nice lingering flavor.

Drink- This was a very good beer IMO. It had nice balance and nice fruit layering.

This beer is fantastic. The fact that it isn't regularly available and/or bottled is a damned shame.

Pours a slightly pinkish red with some off-white bubbling. Beautifully carbonated. It sets off the flavors perfectly.

Smells faintly of lemon, strongly of oaked, tight, slightly sweet cherries with a whiff of definite sour fruit backbone.

Taste is excellent. The oak, tart cherry/acid/vinegar slurry blends with just the right touch of cherry skin sweetness for a beautifully nuanced, delicious, yet straight-forward appeal. The wood aging on this is just beautiful, and the cherries are fresh, ripe, and popping.

An excellent beer. One of the bruery's finest.

On-tap at The Bruery,

A: Pours a dark pink to red with a light white head, fair retention.

S: Very good true cherry nose, I can really smell the fruit, with just a hint of acid.

T: Definite cherry flavour with a lot of lemon and some acetic character, but nowhere near the Blueberry Gueuze, but I did see a similarity between those two.

M: Medium high acidity, low carbonation, a bit biting at times.

O: A good Kriek, I enjoyed the fruit. Nowhere near Cantillon Kriek, that would have been remarkable, but I enjoyed it.

Special keg for Sour Fest 2011. Thanks to Sara for getting this put on!

A: Hazy reddish orange with a small white head.

S: Vibrant cherry skins and flesh with notes of barnyard funkiness and earth. I get a lot of vanilla with a little oak. Light vinegar presence melds with cherry pie.

T: The cherry is outstanding in the flavor. The flavor exhibits a lower high level of lactic sourness with a moderate acetic acidity and a little citric acidity in finish. Oak is evident with some tannins. The cherry profile is awesome. The terminus is tart with a final acetic cherry flourish.

M: Medium in body with lower moderate carbonation. Mouthfeel is sticky and dry.

Overall: This was fantastic. I hope to see something like this again in the future.

On-tap at Sour Fest

A: The beer pours a hazy pinkish-orange color with almost no head.

S: Just an awesome sour cherry aroma. Intense fruit notes with a little bit of sweetness and cherry pie sort of character to it. Rather intense acidity to it and lots of tartness and lemon aroma.

T: The beer is rather tart and sour from start to finish. Big time sour cherries with a nice bit of lemon and lemon zest. Light oak flavor and a very clean sourness. The cherries are incredibly intense, more than almost any sour cherry beer I've had.

M: medium in body with a low to medium carbonation to it.

O: The carbonation is really the only thing I could complain about with this beer (other than it not being very "pretty"). Just an awesome beer.
