On-tap at The Bruery,

A: Pours yellow with a light white head, some lace, fair retention.

S: Pineapple, apricot, some grassiness, a tad herbal.

T: Lots of sweet malt with a generous hopping. Very American hop-style flavour with pine and citrus, hint of tropicality. It's fairly boozy which makes it akin to a Euro strong lager or malt liquor though there is no adjunct flavour apparent.

M: Full-bodied, too boozy, thick, creamy, cloying at times.

O: For me kind of an all-malt malt liquor if you will. Not really my style and comparing it to Humulus Lager is a laugher. The Humulus is considerably drier and much more direct and full-flavoured. Not a terrible beer in the end, though I clearly wanted more attenuation.

A hazy yellow, looked almost like a wheat beer, the head was almost a whole inch, and the retention was impressive.

Other than that, this was mundane. Aroma couldn't decide where it wanted to go. Are you a highly hopped American imperial pils? Or Euro? Belgian? All over the place.

Same with the taste, the alleged high hopping just wasn't there. Expensive when it shouldn't be, unnecessary to have a beer like this in a 750ml format. This shit should be in 12oz cans type of vibe.

Served in a Boulevard tulip glass.

Given our shared love for old school rap, classic Golden State Warriors trios, and odd new beers, I had to share this one with VDubb. His reaction was similar to mine: "Cool name, but does it have to be an imperial pils?" Yeah... Anyway, this stuff pours a lightly-hazy brass topped by a finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises fresh non-flavored oatmeal, sweet corn, light wild rice, light sweet flowers, and a vague sense of greenery off in the distance, oasis-style. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a thankfully-mild-but-still-decidedly-perceptible vein of vinyl. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a generally fluid feel. Overall, one of the better imperial pilsners I've had, but still nothing I'd wanna go after again. Gotta love novelty, right?
