Thanks to Dixonian for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours an orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of maple, brown sugar, caramel and pumpkin and sweet potatoes. The beer smells about how I remember the regular Autumn Maple smelling, only a little bit sweeter.

The flavor is different than the original. I get a light funk from the brett, which comes through a little bit leathery. I also get a lot of brown sugar, cinnamon, pumpkins, yams and alcohol. I also get a little bit of dark fruit and cherries, though I don't think any dark fruit is in the beer. There is also some maple and vanilla in the flavor, which is very nice.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A beer I am glad I got to try.

750ml. bottle at about fridge temp poured into a snifter.

pours out a hazy, almost murky looking dark reddish brown color with just a bit of some off white head, faded to ring after a few minutes. small spots of lace left on the glass.

the first thing i pick up is this funky kind of meaty quality. smells sweet with your usual pumpkin spices. a bit of the yam detectable, possibly just from the spice. slight alcohol noticeable as it warms.

a very nice, slightly spicey yam/ pumpkin base with some seasonal spices, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, all spice, and a very unique meaty, funky quality. almost like a savory kind of thing, dare i say umami? i was expecting maybe some sort of barnyard funk from the brett, but its very slight, if even there at all.

medium bodied, but a full thick mouthfeel. the slightest hint of tartness. sweet. the alcohol is very well hidden, would not have guessed 10%

a solid beer, the brett really works in different ways, combining with the other flavors to really make for an interesting unique taste. id seek this out, however i definatly need to try the original version to better identify some of these flavors going on.

Bottle (2011)

(Aged for 6+ months)

A murky, flat mixture of browns and dark oranges with very little visible carbonation and just the slightest film on top masquerading as a head. This leaves the glass oily and spotted with minimal stick. About as ugly as a beer can get.

The aroma is probably this beer's only saving grace, and even then, it's nothing particularly special. It smells of yams and gingerbread, caramel and toffee, and some alcohol heat.

The flavor too is yam and gingerbread forward, along with some bread crusts and plenty of caramel, and mild alcohol presence. This is overly sweet and the lack of carbonation really hurts it.

Medium to heavy bodied with very low carbonation. Disappointing, to say the least.

I didn't particularly enjoy this one, though I'm hoping this was a bad bottle.

Bottle from IP with WomanCan'tSail. Lovely, complex brew. Yet one cannot drink too much of it. Dark colour with lots of thick lace. Smoke, wild boar in the aroma. The taste is sweet and rich, with molasses and some cherry and smoke. Weird, and lets try some beercycles of it.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy medium brown color. Has a moderate white head that quickly faded.

Smell: Baked yams, brown sugar and bready Belgian yeast notes.

Taste: The baked yams and brown sugar in the nose come through prominent in the taste. Some spice notes also are present. Finishes drier and cleaner than the regular Autumn Maple.

Mouth-feel: The light side of medium-bodied with a moderate level of carbonation.

Overall: I've been an Autumn Maple fan since it first came out. To my tastes the 100% Brett version is smoother and cleaner tasting than the regular Autumn Maple. A good variation of Autumn Maple.

Shared this one with my buddy caSSino while he was in town visiting. Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a hazy red-orange with a minimal off-white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, yam, caramel, and maple syrup. The flavor was of sweet malt, yam, caramel, wood, very slight funk, and maple syrup. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty nice brew. This is definitely the most intense Autumn Maple as far as flavors of the yams and maple syrup comig through that I have had to-date. I was a little disappointed that the Brett took a backseat to these flavors and aromas. I could see this one developing quite nicely in the future while sitting in a cellar. A definite must try if you have access to one of these and love maple syrup and yams.

Bottled 2011, 750ml bottle, poured into oversized wine glass

A- pours a deep reddish-brown color with some rust color around the edges. Small fizzy white head quickly reduces completely, leaving nothing behind

S- aroma of stewed cinnamon apples with brown sugar, ripe pear, ketchup, molasses & apple cider. There is a big vegetal aroma that kicks in near the finish, perhaps from the addition of the yams, along with some booze, dried leaves & fig. The aroma is quite complex, it's just all over the map with no rhyme or reason

T- sweet and malty up front with notes of molasses, brown sugar and caramel. Fruity notes of baked apples and pears kick in, followed by vegetal yam flavors, hickory smoke & BBQ sauce. As it nears the finish, a sour apple tartness kicks in before eventually finishing dry with a linger of yeast & dark fruit

M- medium-viscous body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a smooth, slightly warming finish

O- this one was just all over the place. It's actually pretty good, I just can't figure out what the goal was here. I've never had such a variety of aromas/flavors from a beer. Worth a try, but I prefer regular AM to this one

A huge thanks to Chris (cavery) for this beer! Cheers buddy and hope you have a Merry Christmas! Split between my brother-in-law and myself.

Appearance – Pours a murky brown into a generic tulip. About a half finger of off white head is achieved with a moderate pour.

Smell – Slight pumpkin and spices, a hint of barnyard funk, just a hint of tartness. Yam comes in as the beer warms up, along with some other earthy aromas.

Taste – Candied sugars, yam, a bit of the funk comes through. Honestly, there is an odd metallic tin flavor aftertaste. A nice maple sugar flavor with spices come through at the end.

Mouthfeel – Medium bodied, decent carbonation.

Overall – Easier to drink than the regular, though not as funky/earthy as I was expecting with the “100% Brett” label. However, the brett completely makes this beer more drinkable. I can’t taste the 10% and it is rather enjoyable when all is said and done. Curious what time will do to this.

Pours a dark mahogany-brown with a thin off-white ring and spotty patches of haze. Earthy aromas of brown sugar, sweet potato, cinnamon, and slightly funky Brettanomyces. The yam character is nicely emphasized, this is a very unique-smelling brew. Taste is similarly earthy and a bit funky, with more sweet potato, maple syrup, cinnamon, and Brett. Again, the Brett really spotlights the yam, making it the true star of this beer. Very unique. Mouthfeel is crisp, with a medium body, dry finish, and good carbonation. Overall a very unusual, but well done, take on the Fall-style beer.
