750ml bottle that has been kept in the fridge since it was release. Poured into a matching Bruery snifter, the brew appears dark brown with cola clarity around the edges. A couple big bubbles appear and fade quick. When you look close at the surface, you can seem some of the hazelnut oils collect and form across the top.
The aroma opens nutty the goes to anise and straight belgian candy sugar sweetness with a solid backing of booze that is somewhat solvent feeling. The taste includes anise and a huge booze and roasty char character before getting dominated by a clash of candy sugar verse bourbon heat. Sadly, the sugar and alcohol dominates any feeling of the barrel nuance.
This is medium to full bodied with a light level of carbonation. An absolute attack of alcohol verse sugar. As much as I was anticipating liking this, I ended up not being the biggest fan.

A-Black in the glass, one finger head that doesn't last long
S-Roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, coffee and the hazelnuts are there.
T-Starts with nice hazelnuts, good deal of roasted malt. Chocolate is there and bourbon is present.
M-Heavy and thick but not much carbonation.
O-Better than Black Tuesday but still not as good as Chocolate Rain.
