Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Brewed with beachwood and cherrywood smoked malt, and aged in rye whiskey barrels, Smoking Wood is a delicious demonstration of what wood has to offer when it comes to beer. This imperial smoked porter is brewed with a hefty amount of rye malt, contributing to a full body and light spiciness. Toasty oak, caramel and vanilla flavors balance the smokiness, contributing to an intense yet refined flavor profile.

Aged about a year, shared by Cam in Portland. Thanx Cam.

Black pour. Brown head. Thick ring left at the end.

Lots of peppery whiskey in the scent, big smoky roasted malt and caramel. Huge spice+smoke profile, almost cigar-like.

Whiskey barrel, smoke, charred oak, and spice dominate the taste. Only a light porter base of dark caramel, chocolate and roast. Good amount of rye noticeable as well. Smokiness is maybe a bit over the top but it works well here.

Low-medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel though maybe a bit thin. Smoke and whiskey specifically make this a sipper but really not bad for 13%.

Whiskey/rye/smoke profile is great, I could see how this beer could be a bit much for some people though. Definitely a 750ml to split and sip on - it's kinda like smoking a cigar, eating bacon, and drinking whiskey, all while being a little too close to a campfire.
