Thanks to SaucerSam for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of lemon and funk notes, as well as some light biscuit malt. The flavor is similar and is very sour. I get some strong lemon and orange citrus notes, but there is also a good bit of funk and some vinegar. Very acetic overall. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Bottle (2012)

The Bruery Provisions
Orange, CA

A bright, glowing, clear, vibrant golden yellow color with a quickly forming, though small off-white head that eventually falls down to a thin film and leaves dots of stick down the glass. Looks thin, but perfectly appropriate.

The aroma is powerful, with lots of acidic sourness leaping out of the glass, big notes of lemon, white grapes and white wine, a slight hint of funk, and decent oak character, especially as the beer fully warms to room temperature.

This is a powerfully sour, acidic, wild ale, with big flavors of lemon, oak, white wine and white grapes, and vinegar present throughout. Hugely sour from start to finish. Simple, and not nearly as complex as some other wilds, but almost as sour as they come. As the back of the bottle simply states, "Not for the sour beer newbie!"

Light to medium body with moderate carbonation.

Not nearly as complex as the best sours in the world, but this is still a fantastically interesting beer--and yes, folks, its sour! This is what I was hoping this beer would taste like, and I'll happily drink this anytime.

Pours out very yellow, nice big 1" of white head on it, worries about lack of carbonation are dispelled. Aroma of oak, massive lemony sourness, and definitely funky, but not the wet dog funky. Enjoyable.

Taste, puckering. Plenty of lemon acidity and vigor (not vinegar). The oak is there in sizeable form. The oak makes this dry, stone ground mustard like acidity interplay or something, but as a guy who loves mustard, bring it on! Doesn't really bring any fruit other than lemon into the flavor equation. Relatively light body, into which a souring steroid mechanism exists. Gobs of acetic acid, which I think works pretty well. This beer is going to be challenging to a lot of people. I like it, and it keeps getting better.

I've had 3 bottles of this so far. Melding the experience from both into one review, subsequent bottles will yield an edited review/score. The first bottle was on the low end carbonation wise, the next two really picked up

Got this in a trade. I shouldn't have. 750ml bottle into a Lost Abbey teku. Shared with schen9303.

Pours some light bubbles. Beer is an attractive goldenrod. No lace and thin legs. No good. Looks near flat except for some bubbles around the side of the glass.

Nose is pungent vinegar and lemon. Very acidic and pretty aromatic. Average.

Opens vinegar tartness. Some lemon acidity and more vinegar at the end. There's a very faint tropical pineapple going on somewhere but its mostly covered by the vinegar. Acidic finish with a sour aftertaste. Very one dimensional and that dimension's not too great.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Oily and slick and rather dull in the mouth. Filmy and dry going down. Aggressive finish with a lingering aftertaste. Pretty average again.

This isn't very good. I wouldn't have it again. Very one dimensional and instead of tasting funky and full of character, this just seems like a project gone wrong that they decided to bottle anyway. Overwhelming vinegar isn't what I'm looking for from my Wild Ales.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Brief head atop a clear yellow body. Nothing left after a bit.

Smell - Orange citrus. Intense acidity. Slightly acetic. Funky.

Taste - Really sour. Citrusy. Sharp funk cheesy flavor

Mouthfeel - Immensely sour. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - Not complex or interesting.
